I accidentally took a Swiss army knife on a flight from Eindhoven to Dublin a few years ago. I had it in my coat pocket because a few weeks before, some frustrated bored food-deprived teens tried to mug me during Ramadan in a city in the Netherlands. I got to security at the airport without realising it was there, it went through the scanner, and of course my luggage was searched. The border guard took the knife out and asked me why I brought it. I answered in my thick rural accent that I am from a rural area (which I am) and that I used it in the woods sometimes. He told me to leave it at home next time, put the knife back in my pocket, and sent me on my way. I was baffled and could feel the knife burning in my pocket the whole flight. I was visiting a friend in Dublin and planned on leaving the knife there as I didn't want to try my luck with the Irish border guards, but of course I forgot to leave it because of all the Guinness and ended up at the airport with the knife again. This time I did realise before I went through security and decided to leave the knife at the toilet. I hope some Irishman who just landed from his holiday abroad took it home and found a good use for it.

Airport security in a lot of countries is a joke, security theatre for a lot. I remember I told the TSA agent I forgot my wallet in my pocket, to which she said it was fine, and to go through the metal detector. Sure enough, it detects my wallet and they pat me down. They find my wallet and scold me about it but the whole time I’m thinking “your partner just said it was fine”. Absolute buffoons.

Technically in some countrys its allowed to bring a gun on the plane aslong as there are no bullets in it or in your possesion, since bullets are considered explosives while a unloaded gun is just a piece of metal

Yes, in Brazil for example you can bring one, however It needs to be unloaded, in a locked case and needs to be dispatched to the airplane cargo hold (meaning you won't have access to It). Fun fact: I didn't know any of this since I've never even got near plane nor plan to own a gun, but came to this information after the absolute moron of the ex Minister of Education during the previous government end up firing his gun accidentally in an airport.

Guns are actually allowed on planes. However you must declare it before security checkpoints, it must be unloaded and have 2 separate cases for the ammunition and the gun itself. The gun will then be taken to your plane and put into the cargo bay and you may claim it in your destination with your ID, and Gun License.
