I'm 84, a cancer survivor, and had my own plane for a short time many years ago. Matt is fun to watch and nice to get some insights into who he is and what he does. We need more of these.

For those who came for the info in the video title....it was glossed over rather quickly in the video so here it is: He does admit that he didn't pay for the L39 and has been very lucky to meet many people with airplanes who let him fly with them or fly their planes. He only short-term leased the Bonanza he flew around the world, so he didn't have to fork out the cash to buy it. I think he is a small-scale internet reseller as well (you can start a company and become an internet reseller by buying it wholesale from the big providers and then marketing and reselling it yourself) which provides him with a steady stream of cash flow (albeit likely not enough to live a lavish lifestyle). He also has a monetized KZbin channel and, as mentioned, currently has a contract to fly around the world again for a video production.

He is doing quite well for himself. He lives in an incredible house on a private airstrip.... that alone automatically makes most houses worth over the 1mil mark.. then the location adds probably another good bit.. being a homeowner in your mid 20's is already a big accomplishment.
@jbw999923 күн бұрын
@@melvinelder3587 I think those homes cost a lot more than that. There's a 2 acre lot for sale right now for $2,750,000.

Forgive me, I'm coming in the backdoor to this, but how do you resell... Internet? Like those people that franchise out Subway Sandwiches etc? You can do it with an ISP?

@@melvinelder3587the air park in Alpine was mine and my wife’s dream place. We saved for 10 years to hope to buy a lot at that place, thinking we could then save another 10 years to build. Lots there were north of our budget at $250k. After COVID, that same lot went to $1.2 M. Strike that from the dream list. Ended up building a house at an air park at the edge of the Ozarks in Northeast Oklahoma, where we could buy a lot for $40k. It is frustrating when you have people like us that have worked and saved for decades to live our dream of an air park and an airplane, able to pull it off by the time we were in our 50’s, then you see people like this able to do it at 29 years old.

I guess I didn't realize it, but I've been watching/following Matt for a long time. Long time ago I found out he has a connection to Rochester NY, and that's where I'm from. So I just watched every video. Here, when he mentioned a particular flight, I knew exactly the one he was talking about, and all about it! What I didn't know is why he showed up one day with a TBM, did a few video's about it, then it disappeared. It was an older 850, there was no info about it. I was about ready to look for crash reports!! Now I/we know the rest of the story!! I'm 72, he is everything I wanted to be at 30 8( Very well done!! Peace --gary

What was your day job before the new app? Didn’t you start some kind of iPhone unlock software or something similar? Always wondered what funded the lifestyle. I don’t think straight KZbin money affords the current lifestyle with the frequency of uploading and views. Maybe I’m wrong

Wasn't Matt involved with another guy who ditched his Bonanza in the ocean as a publicity stunt? I think Matt was the guy who filmed the stunt from another Bonanza.
@danblumel2 ай бұрын
Don't assume he was party to any of that. I'm sure he wouldn't be stupid enough to intentionally participate. The FAA would have taken him to task if he were involved in such.
@mattf490062 ай бұрын
@danblumel ..his involvement in that sure seems sketchy af...after watching his L39 videos seeing his cockpit management..lack of weather prep and being consistently 10 miles behind the airplane...his stunt a cpl years ago in San Diego...there's a laundry list of instances of border line illegal airmanship in his flying career...I'd think twice flying with him

@@Airplanefish no, I made a video about it afterward. But I think the only person that’s ever suggested that was somehow intentional (which I don’t see any reason to believe) is Dan Gryder, which would seem to indicate to me that it probably wasn’t.

this guy just seems like the biggest tool. All of his videos are exactly how NOT to fly an airplane. He's always behind the aircraft. Poor weather planning. Always some "emergency" he needs to deal with in every video. Never uses checklists. Does unsafe things and copes by saying "i know this aircraft" or "I know this airspace" and stuff like that. Also, that SKETCHY incident where he filmed his friend ditch in the ocean for another "emergency" that they proved to be a fake emergency. Idk, think we'll read an NTSB report on this kid one day. Too many holes in the swiss cheese. They're bound to connect at some point.

I watched a few of Matt’s videos early on because of a shared love for Bonanzas. I unsubscribed and stopped watching after it became clear he was more of self-promoting influencer than an aviator. He is representative of a group of folks that continue to hurt the perception and progress of general aviation.

How does a 21 yr old afford to buy a L39 (300K plane), that burns 60 gal per hr, has 300 gal total at $6-8 per gal, thats 1600 to 2100 pwr flt?? and maintain it which is well over 8k/mo??🤔 literally one would need at least 400k/yrly salary to keepone of these flying, 150 hrs per yr which isnt much.
