I think this Gief was just toying with Smuggles. He always used the weakest spd to NOT kill; he hardly ever used DR to pressure after knockdown despite practically having full meter; he hardly use the typical (effective) Gief shenanigans like knee into SPD. He just wanted to extend every fight by 30s, I think he just wants to torture Smuggles instead of just win.
