I actually did a few dash only runs lately! They're crazy fun if you pop off. I had one where I went splash dash and got stacked poseidon and zeus boons with sea storm. It was honestly an easier clear than some of my other serious runs 😭

I remember that one time I got a shit built early in the game, my attacks literally did no damage and a simple chamber would take me like 3-5 minutes to beat. But in Elysium I got a streak of 2 zeus dash charms and 2 Hermes dash charms and I was disgusted by how quickly I began clearing chambers just by dashing. Easiest Hades run of my life.

PP vs. Dash poms: PP is good because it has a chance to crit on ANY damage you do...but in this run we're only doing dash lightning damage. So looking at the PP first, you are getting a +1% per pom chance to do 200% damage. Multiplying the odds by the effect (0.01*2 = 0.02) you are increasing your damage by 2%. The dash base damage doesn't have to improve by much to beat 2%, so in one instance dash going from 38 to 41 would be about an 8% increase in damage. If this were a regular run and you were doing all kinds of damage the case for PP would be much stronger but not so much when it is only really affecting one type of damage.

as far as i can tell PP also affects legendary bolts, heavens vengeance, lightning reflexes, and jolted damage, and each additional pom has the exact same scaling increasing 1% each time. In addition a proc of PP also applies hunters mark which is basically a guaranteed crit, often more than 1. PP had a much larger reward for continuing to pom than the dash did once he got the dash to a good level. just look at the damage numbers in both styx and especially the hades fight. all those "919!" damage numbers in the hades fight were from heavens vengeance critting, not to mention all the tons of smaller crits that add up. PP combined with hunters mark put in serious work here

PP doesn't mean EVERYTHING crits, chain lightning can't crit for example. And it's not 200% damage, a crit is +200% damage, which is 100 (base) +200%=300% damage

I did a dio chiron bow run yesterday in hell mode. Picked up Zeus dash to fill out the fated list. Ended up killing Hades with dash only after getting 7 other Zeus boons including the lego and a level 7 high voltage for thick bolts. It was so powerful I couldn't believe how quickly Hades melted. I think this was the 2nd time I ever picked up the Zeus dash cause I always thought it was bad. Not anymore.

Love this. I mentioned a few videos back my success with the same build. Gilgamesh with Zeus dash is Op. I feel even high voltage is a great boon for the dash. Makes it absolutely huge. P.s. how do you feel about the mod that renews god keepsakes for each biome. so you can be guaranteed to see the desired god at least once per biome. Sounds like something I wish was natively part of the game. So frustrating to plan an Arty build, and only get the one starting boon, never to see her again for that run. For example. And especially for a Zeus build, Zeus is downright bad with only one or two boons in most cases, and completely insane with say, double strike, jolted and splitting bolt supplementing the tier one boon.

Imagine Zagreus in Smash. You’d get to pick one of several God’s boons before each stock, which gives you buffs and modifies your specials. The catch is that once you pick a god, you’re stuck with them and can’t switch until you lose a stock, just like in Hades where, while you have some choice, you’re more or less stuck with the boons that you get until you die.

Best dash build ive got so far was an +3 dash hermes boon, Ares vortex dashes and some boons that buffed the vortex. I was originally going for an cast build, but hermes and chaos would not give me their cast buffs, however, Hermes gave me the +3 dashes, and then Ares appeared with his dash, after that i actually speed runned through the game, prob my easiest Hades kill so far

It requires major rng on room spawns. Some rooms have paused time, and some rooms you can just skip like shop. I’m also pretty sure that Thanatos pauses time when you do the contest with him. Mixed with good movement and nice dps, you can get a very fast time

When you know the mechanic and get used to pause and skip chamber like choosing chaos, mid-shop or ! room it will become fast IGT naturally. Also Erebus can make you slower if you want the reward because you have to be careful. Heat choices matter too like more enemies and more HP enemies can make you slower on time. First few days I struggle just to get sub 20 now if I can’t get sub 20 it’s slow. I still can’t get sub 10 though by best is 11.

Oh I also forgot. Most speed runs have the runner have extreme measures 2 to have a smaller Lernie aka Bone Hydra arena so you can kill the smaller hydras quicker. They also have the heat that makes enemies move 40% faster and attack 40% faster, therefore making it faster for you to kill them. Some people also use tight deadline for the memes, but it doesn’t make any difference cause it’s so fast they don’t need it.
