I thought I was the only person with a freezer in a mess lol...I have the half size chest freezer & have tried milk crates..only 2 fit then to tall to layer them..ugh ! So I went & bought plastic baskets..they worked for a while but get brittle & break...I will be checking this system out to solve my messy freezer ! We had a small chest freezer quit working about 5 yrs ago so instead of hauling it off for scrap we put it in our garage to store pet food...mice or anything else cant get in it & works perfectly !!!

When we cleaned our big freezer we put pans with boiling water in it and closed it. In no time it would would have the ice off. Scoop out the ice, add some soap and scrub!

Yes Jenny that is the quickest way to do it. Plus should use baking soda water to clean the gasket.

That is awesome...that's the reason I always disliked a chest freezer...I'm 5'3" an every time I tried to get stuff out of the bottom I almost fell in...so this will be so good...thanks for sharing with us

Good reminder for me to clean out my freezer before my next trip to Sam’s. Unfortunately I only have a tiny freezer as it is only me. I am thinking it was Everett with the stick of butter. Looks good.

Looking at your storage shelves, I would advise you to add a couple removable bars across the front of each shelf about half way up, so that if/when an earthquake hits you don’t lose all your stuff... we live in Oregon and have done that in case we get one

you should get a Lil 5 cut frezzer for your folks n te them put your stuff in here til u come home lol. I bought my cheast freezer in 1996 n has metal baskets n still working but I did bought an upright n good lord will it will be del on or around 10/25 bought it 3 mon ago still waiting. tired of digging in cheast but will still keep n use til it dies surprised you guys don't have more freezers

I inventoried my little chest freezer a while back but forgot to write down expiration dates. 🤦‍♀️ Had to go back in yesterday and write down dates and put the longest expiration dates on the bottom. Great video!

Thank is the trouble with chest freezers, as everything gets buried in the bottom of it. Then as you said you have items that you have forgotten you have already and do not need to buy any more of. You Said you had to much Bread & Cheese. We stopped using top load freezers, and went only to front load and found that we could get more product into a front load than any top load. And I have seen this with others here on KZbin also, that a front load freezer has more room if you buy the right size of freezer to start with. Bust of luck!!

Watching you clean the freezer made me laugh. I cleaned mine as well last week….but mine was an apartment freezer and when it was empty I just pulled it outside and let the heat do its job. I live in Southern Ontario and I think it was in the mid 90’s that day.

Your freezer isn't level. That and being in your garage with our temperatures will cause the icing but is also harder on the unit. Now full, won't be easy but you can still level full as the feet should spin. Interesting organizational option. Glad you shared.

Use tepid water to rinse down the ice it is faster when the bottom has a couple of inches of water all the grunge on the bottom is removed with a dustpan first, then wet/dry vacuumed. Then I wash out the freezer with baking soda, rinse and vacuum the remaining water, rinse, and wet/dry vac again. Old towels followed by a small fan are used to quickly dry the remaining moisture. It is usually finished and ready to restock within an hour. BTW I never use the drain.

i use a wallpaper scraper and a spray bottle of really hot water when defrosting my freezer i spray the water to create a gap behind large chunks of ice the use the scraper in behind to lift the ice and break it away cuts the time down loads, the hairdryer is a great idea im definitely going to try it looks brilliant when its done
