I live in Arizona and my best tips for getting flowers to last is when you come home from the store, to peel all the leaves off of the stem, trim the stem diagonally, and use the flower food packets!! I usually stay away from the bundles of flowers because they all age differently so it tends to get pretty sparse! But when I’ve trimmed the stems and removed the leaves I’ve noticed they last way longer!!

I always put a baby aspirin in with cut flowers, it makes them last almost a month. Also change the water every few days instead of adding water. Having a clean house when I don't feel well makes me feel calm knowing that hubby doesn't have to do it. I have back issues so occasionally I wind up in bed for a day or 2. Hope everyone is feeling much better.

I suggest cutting at least an inch of the stem when you purchase your flowers and then add cold water (especially if you have Roses and keep them in cold air/water) that can make them last a very long time. Also, make sure the one inch when cutting is enough, meaning that the cut is new and the water will be absorbed or just cut a bit more if one inch is not enough. Ex: if you put a plant water feeder and the soiled is already well damped it will stop absorbing water from that feeder just like a stem if it has absorbed water, it will stop absorbing water which is why they die, the new cut piece should not be soaked (and you can tell when cutting the stem) and they need space to grow in. I know it sounds maybe stranger or too much, but it works when I watch over my mom's and sisters' flowers. My sister's single rose have lasted over a month alive (air conditioned environment) and my moms dozens of rose over two weeks (not air conditioned area).

I’m so pleased that you’re all feeling better especially Liam. It’s always such a worry when your child is ill. X I always fold my laundry on my kitchen table , I find it easier on a flat surface and it saves my back from bending. I always cut the stems of my flowers at an angle and change the water every couple of days. If you ever have tulips 🌷, push a pin through the top of the stem near the base of the flower to make a hole, it will help release gas bubbles that build up in the stems. Some flowers like a penny popped in the water . I’m not sure what the metal content of your coins in the USA is but our pennies in the UK 🇬🇧 do the job 😊😊 xx ❤️🌷🌷🌷

I like the lamp where you have it. Maybe could be behind the chair a little more. I agree about the toothbrushes after you've been sick. If you use sonic ones that the replacement brushes are quite expensive, you might want to consider getting one of those sanitizer devices that you could put them in to clean them. Also good to have on hand to sanitize credit cards, keys and other frequently handled things.

So I'm up late making myself do my cleaning because we had horrible colds and the house just got pretty bad fast, especially with a 2 yr old boy and 5 yr old girl. I was feeling overwhelmed and feeling like "Is this all I'm here for? Cleaning, cooking and being a mom" Sounds terrible. Usually I'm happy like crazy to be a mom but lately feeling lost in my own life. I don't recognize myself sometimes. I'm working on it. I start back at the gym tomorrow now that the cough has cleared away. But I wanted to see if you had a video up and to my surprise it says "after being sick!" It just instantly reminded me I'm not alone and it's ok my home got so messy. So thank you for being so honest about your extra messy days. God bless you Amanda! I can do this. I now have to start making time for myself. This to shall pass. 😌🙏🏽💕

a little tip for flowers to last longer that has been working out for me is when i cut them from my garden i would keep them in the vase filled with water for a few days and when i notice they're starting to go bad i take them out of water dry them put them back in clean and dry vase and spray them with generous amount of hair spray (the stronger the better just make sure you're spraying at about 35cm distance so it doesn't get sticky..) that way it usually lasts about 5-6 days longer than it would if you just leave them in water.. this has work for me for both fresh and dry flowers

Even tho both my sons are grown and have families of their own, I still remember those sick days. Seems like every year when they went back to school they would both be sick. I’ve only had good luck with flowers in the winter. I live here in Arizona too. I think it’s too dry and if they aren’t placed in just the right spot, the heat and light kills them quick.
