I’m an old Air Force brat (61) but my parents moved 26 times and they had been married 25 years at the time. Granted they had movers move them but my mom was a decluttered queen. I can’t wait to see the new home❤️❤️❤️

So smart to declutter and donate prior to the move! I am an Army brat used to moving pretty much every 18 to 24 months with a limited weight allowance. My dad actually fitted out footlockers for our household goods and one each for my brother and me. At different stages of our lives, my brother and I would "negotiate" space in each other's footlockers.

moving tip - vacuum bags for all linens and pillows - helps save SO MUCH ROOM! also styrofoam plates between each dinner plate to prevent breaking and easier than packing paper AND you can reuse them when you get to where you are moving too :)

Aw decluttering thing is the best. This video inspired me to do this for my basement laundry room. I sorted through holiday decor and transferred them to clear totes and labeled each one nicely with my new label maker.

I love decluttering! It feels so good when I get rid of things. I get a sense of accomplishment and everything just feels so fresh when I declutter. I normally declutter all of my kids rooms right before their birthdays and Christmas....so twice a year for the kiddos. The rest of the house probably gets done about 1-2 times a year. Anywho, I can't believe you're moving! I'm so excited for you! Can't wait to see what good things you do to the new place!

I’m not even moving again for a little while (probably until my youngest daughter graduates in 3 years) and you have me WANTING to declutter again lol. When we moved to Arizona in 2010 (my kids, my now-ex husband, and me), we shipped a HUGE Pod container out with stuff we needed...and donated at least half. Then my MIL passed, and we had to declutter even more. And I got divorced, and decluttered and donated several more times after that lol. It’s so freeing every time. What we have now could probably fit easily into a 25 foot U-Haul truck. All of our pics are pretty much digital, except for a gallery wall and a few frames, and we got one the new XBox, which is all digital too, so LOTS of decluttering. Decor is my weak spot, and I have a Monica’s Closet too. Thank you for giving me some major motivation! I’m SO excited to see this new chapter for your family, and what you and Kyle do to make this new house your own! SAFE TRAVELS! 🚛 🗺🌵

Great motivation as usual. If I had to have a big moving truck move our stuff again like when we moved from Montana to Kansas. a few things I'd do different knowing what I know now. I'd get a "POD" so much cheaper. the moving truck was .60 per pound for the coast. plus they stole a bunch of stuff too. With the POD you load it, lock it, You keep the lock & they move it. One thing I have always wanted to do when we finish our basement: with the games, take a shadow box frame, remove glass, use swivel brackets to secure board to front of frame so you can see the game board while it hangs, but easy to move the brackets to take board off, put all your game pieces in a bag & put in the back of the shadow box frame & hang on wall.I seen the idea on Pinterest. Makes for great wall decor too. Cant wait to see the new house. Hugs ~Samantha

Just moved out of a rental where we lived for 10 years and bought a house. Yay! But declutter was and still is my buzzword- we gathered so much in 10 years! Plus we have a storage shed with stuff from the house we lived in for 15 years before that still to go through. I’m aiming for the title of donation queen! That holding up clothes part- I remember those days with my kids. They hated it when I sorted their clothes! But then they loved getting to wear things their siblings wore.

One area we tackled recently is the garage! The garage is a place where most things end up that you don’t even use or want, so my husband and I bit the bullet and finally decluttered it and it feels so good to only have items out there that we need!!

We are currently in declutter mode. Being stuck in our home for over a year has shown me how much we don't use. It has taken almost 3 months but we are closing in on the finish line. Now I just have to actually get the boxes out of our house! I found it amusing that just yesterday I went through the children's games doing the same thing, with the same produce. We same to have lots of card games; so the smaller bags are great! Good luck with the move. You're definitly making it easier on yourself; going through things before packing.

I hate moving it's so tiring . Also I've been traumatized by a million moves during my senior year of high school coz we move about 6 times in 3 years coz my dad had a very sensitive job. Ever since I've hated it lol I had to make new friends every six months. Anyway am happy ur moving closer to family. The decluttering will truly help esp when unpacking.
