So relieved to hear you say, 'The house managed to survive'. This is a beautiful house.

Truly a beautiful house. I love it when they have survived to this day. It's so depressing when they've been torn down and their treasures are lost forever.

Thank God it still exists!!!🎉🎉🎉

@ThisHouse - I have to admit I liked the grounds most of all, though I am happy that the mansion is still standing ☺️☺️

I remember when the stables burned in the 1990's. It was right up front on the right as you came through the main gates. I loved that structure. The front gate has been shifted over a bit for a road that goes to the other homes built on the property. At least it was not lost when the other homes went in.

Knole was used as the set for Sonny Von Bulow's mansion in the movie Reversal of Fortune.

Good catch. Sunny’s old house in Newport Clarendon Court was sold for $30 mill in 2021.

Also featured in the Whoopi Goldberg movie "The Associate" and then the DMX/Nas movie "Belly". Both movies make good use of the rotunda, but the way they used it in Belly was pretty wild 😄. Glad to hear it has survived, I thought it was gone when they started that subdivision years ago!!

Oooh…I really like this house. I especially like the look of the exterior. And the bedroom was gorgeous. I am going to look up the word “loggia” but it looks like a patio/porch area. Those gardens!! I want to wander them… Beautiful place!

I love the fact that Knole is built primarily of concrete, but doesn’t give that utilitarian vibe. I am sure that the stable of horses was happy with lovely grounds and very posh digs. It seems to be an elegant survivor.

Nope we had cherry hill race track down the street from us and we had owned two thorobreads ,,,,,it's all pain and suffering for the horses in claiming races

The front elevation looks like a sanitarium. The rest is what we expect a building with that pedigree to look like. Grand and lovely.

Thanks for the tour. I don’t think the entrance facade would win any beauty contests, but the floor plan was interesting.

Platinum. This House deserves a more detailed review.

Can we see the interior of the house now?
@pmn2821Ай бұрын
Thank goodness it's been saved from the wrecking ball. I would say the front facade certainly doesn't mimic the grand interiors i find interesting and a bit bazaar at the same time. So, I'm curious: Is it still a private residence?
@samanthab1923Ай бұрын
It’s private. Was wondering why we didn’t see any recent photos

The French & Italian Beaux-Arts styles don't sit easily next to one another. The parts are all beautiful, but somehow, there's a jumble. The rotunda is wonderful, but the sad dead bear rug at the foot of the stairs can go. The gardens were beautiful, the stables, too.
@sharksport01Ай бұрын
The bear rug isn't going anywhere. It's still there.

I wonder if actor Dan Duryea (1907-1968) was of Duryea's kids? He was born in White Plains, NY and attended Cornell and was in the Sphinx Society. His parents disliked that he went into acting. His best role was of a dirty cop in "The Lady in the Window" with Edward G. Robinson and Elizabeth Bennet in 1943. A fantastic Film Noir thriller.

Born Jan. 23, 1907 in White Plains, NY, Dan Duryea was the son of textile salesman Richard Duryea and his wife, Mabel

The front facade is a bit lacking. The grounds and stables were beautiful! They should've designed the main house more in the style of the stables.
