By the look of the kitchen, the condition of the exterior and landscape, I would say early 2000’s. It’s not an older home. 20 or 25 years at most. It’s a beautiful home.

What a wild home! It's like 1899 and 1999 mixed together. I helped my uncle's neighbor move a few years ago out of a large cookie cutter house in a modern subdivision. I was shocked when I saw how much intricate wood work and molding was done in every room! I found out later that the man was a wood worker and had taken many years to turn the inside of the house into an elaborate showcase of his abilities.

The modern floor-plan and lack of mature trees on the property were clues early in the video that this was not a vintage home. Very nicely detailed molding throughout and several exquisite chandeliers. Favorite chandelier was in the kitchen, which I thought looked a little out of place. So much white and just over-the-top, fancy design, yet obviously modern, gave off a cold and pretentious feel. Favorite rooms were the library and first bonus room upstairs at the end of the balcony. I loved the warmth and rich wood tones in the library and the coziness of that first bonus room. Overall, a very luxurious and grandiose structure. As always, Ken, you did a great job of highlighting the most unique details. I was not all that surprised at the actual age of the place. It really is eye-candy for those who appreciate luxe design. Thank-you for this tour. Keep up your great work!

Craftsmanship? All that trim came from a mill. If you look closely there were gaps in the seams. If I could see them watching this video, you know they look worse in person. The installers were not the best the builder could find.

I’m guessing 5-10 years old. ETA: Just changed my guess to closer to 20 based on decor, thermostat and a couple of other items. Back after finishing the video. As someone who worked in mortgage lending at that time and saw a lot of home plans, appraisal pictures, material lists, etc, I started to recognize the time frame. That, and having a couple of friends lucky enough to be in a position to build homes of this caliber and watching them make choices on the interior finishes helped me recognize it. This was a fun one!

I like it better since it's not too old you can do alot to renew an old house but even if you do it's still old. So this one is relatively new and has alot of traditional quality finishes which is fabulous. Especially the chandeliers and the door knobs. I want diamond glittery cabinet knobs now! So cool!

I GOT IT RIGHT. While looking at the layout and the adjoining neighborhood architecture, I said out loud to myself: "I'd say 1998 or 1999." There is nothing antebellum about it. Personally, I thought the house itself was attractive, but the furnishings and fake woodwork (really, you could get those cornices at Home Depot) were gauche. If it were authentic and built in, say, the 1860s or 70s, it would most likely be Gothic Revival or Queen Anne style. So we end up with a faux Federalist house in a St. Louis suburb - and it looks it.

Appreciate the tour. I'm having major conflicts internally with this home. On the surface, nothing wrong with what the owners have chosen to do, however it's odd af. The ceilings in most of the house are too low and I really don't like most of the modern touches (like can lights). I would guess most buyers are going to remove most of these things to modernize the home unfortunately.

It’s a gorgeous house, but the floor plan doesn’t fit a period home, I would say the home is newer than one would think, but it is meticulously trimmed. Generally the first room of the house would be the front parlor or reception room, and you wouldn’t find a great room in a period house. One thing I did notice was that the doorways are not all carrying the same theme. I might be wrong, but it’s a glorious home and I would love to live in it, for a while, but I bet cleaning it would take forever.the lighting fixtures are also too new.the ceilings are also too low. The whole neighborhood looks like a very exclusive area.

The house is pretty much lacking in the kind of character that comes with age. It was likely built within the last 20 years. What was odd for me is that there was nothing within the house that had any age to it, no period pieces of furniture or older art. It was all kind of shiny new and characterless. It kind of shrieked "interior decorator" style.

It looks like it was built in 1999. I could tell from the outside and the off the shelf trim that was put in that house. How many square feet makes a mansion? I have 6000 SqFt but a to car garage. Do I live in a mansion?
@ThisHouse

Didn't think it was very old. Too many "new" features that gave it away. They tried, but didn't throw enough money at it. Even so, it's hard to imbue a newer house with the feel and patina that only true age can give. Are the mullions real? Fake mullions are another clue when deciding the age of a property.

Probably built in the 90's. Very over the top decor that screams new money, like a lottery winner built it. The way you come into the front door and look right at the dining table was a bad idea and you could see right into the kitchen. The only cozy or comfortable looking room was the library. The master bath with the stained glass and all the stuff was super tacky.
