The point at 13:31 - the amount if pictures acrnm provides is great. Lots of luxury brands (fashion or furniture, design, etc.) provide very few if any extra pics of their products. Which is sometimes shame, because it discourages people that maybe think about buying such product, or would like to know more about it.
@ThisIsAntwon2 жыл бұрын
Totally - retailers are more likely to do videos of garments now which helps get a sense of how things look/move, but more product shots generally is always welcome. Kinda ironic though that for some of the releases you won't even have enough time to study all the pics before deciding if you want something because it sells out too fast

@ThisIsAntwon2 жыл бұрын
Pixel gang 🤝 tbh that's fair, however you try and justify it the clothing is extremely expensive. The recent Nike collab woven jacket was pretty fun but was also very different to the typical Acronym stuff so I get why that's not really considered a replacement. Some of the more recent retailer items are an attempt to make Acronym available at a lower price point, but we're still talking $500+. Would be great to see more collabs for sure.

Another great video Antwon! This video about sums it all up - the durability, water resistant materials, build quality, comfort, functionality, the great design and the great feeling you get from wearing clothes you really love is what makes them special and justifies the price for people. Not to mention the hours of research, design experimentation and cost of materials and production. Anyone with a sewing machine could buy a bog standard cargo pant pattern off the internet, get some cheap fabric, sew it in a few hours and end up with some cheap cargo pants similar to the ones shown in the video. If they had to design something like the kind Acronym put out, they'd be totally at a loss. Even if they had an Acronym sewing pattern and the right materials they would probably not know how to sew it correctly because of the pattern's complexity, and it would take a huge amount of hours until they finally either gave up because they ruined it or ended up with a pair of cargo pants that they'd probably botched in numerous places. This goes doubly for the Jackets, of course. There is a lot that goes into the product price tags of these kind of high end brands that produce high quality/technical clothing like Acronym, Arc'teryx etc. My only gripe with Acronym is that there is no opportunity to try the clothes on for size and fit before buying(although I know that they have the size specs on the website). However, I know that they have their reasons for not distributing their products for retail in shops so I suppose that's just how it goes.

They do! The important distinction is that those are marketing rather than advertising. Acronym definitely does market the brand, from the design of their website, use of Errolson's IG account, support of a few influencers/celebrities (of which unfortunately I am not one!) etc.. Even collaborations are a form of marketing. The videos specifically live exclusively on their website and owned channels, serving to build the brand through organic means. What you won't see is paid content (banners, paid social posts, TV ads, even paid influencer marketing), whereas many luxury fashion brands invest heavily in paid media advertising to get their message across.

There's also the aspect of time served with big brands like acronym, so if you want quality or style or heritage or all of the above, going with a brand that has done that in the past just makes some sense. Agreed on the necessity of a lot of good product photos when you're putting down a bunch of cash on an item - one of the few gripes I have with the Vollebak stuff I've bought is that their product pages are heavy on the 'Tesla-style' futurism bullshit spiel and light on any good detail pics of what you'll actually be buying, there's a couple things came in the post and went back same day when I got them unpacked and thought 'Hm nope'. Tbh i think the cheap one looks better to me. I really hate the acronym pockets. That silver T looking thing in the front feels really unflattering. Also the shape of the pockets looks super boring, just a square. Im not saying that the cheap one has better looking pockets but i would much rather get the cheap one with some better zips instead of velcro. To me one of the best cargos (if not the best) is the Julius ss15 or fw15 pair. Crazy pockets, seams, shape, etc.. Ofc not any ulitily with these. I wish Julius made some techwear stuff (and not Nilos)
@jo-mi49662 жыл бұрын
I think this comes down to what style of "techwear" you are into. Personally, I prefer the more understated kind, with maybe just an interesting little flair to give the product some personality. For that reason, for me too, there are a number of other Acronym pants, or pants from other similar brands that I would prefer over the Acronym P38-e pants from the video. It sounds like you are leaning more into the more eccentric warcore type stuff to me. Maybe Riot Division would be more your kind of brand. Jo-Mi 1 second ago Actually Riot Division isn't the brand I was thinking of - it was Holygrail Riot Division are still probably worth checking out though if you haven't yet.

There is something about the simplicity of the cheap pair that is actually appealing in a certain way, I agree with you completely. The Acronyms are almost a bit too fancy and high tech in my opinion. However, I do get the impression that the cheap pair is probably just a little bit too simple - another 10% of added effort and design would really elevate them.

If you spend £1000 on outdoor brand clothes you can expect them to survive the world's harshest conditions such as mount Everest or the Antarctic or even the deserts if you spend £1000 on fashion brands you deserve to be ripped off and your clothes to still fall apart.
@ThisIsAntwon2 жыл бұрын
Durability or extreme use case isn't the only reason to spend more money on something. People buy supercars for their track performance, craftmanship, exclusivity, and aesthetics even though a Land Rover would outperform them in any 'harsh conditions' for far less cash. On a similar note, any clothing designed for mount everest would probably be miserable to wear 99% of the time as it's not designed for normal temperature ranges. I'd much rather spend that money on clothing that's designed and suited for day-to-day wear which I can happily and comfortably wear regularly.
