Daniel. One of the reasons I enjoying watching these videos for almost 2 years is that you and your team bring a perspective about life as a business owner and what businesses go through on a daily bases. I am not a business owner but your opinions and decisions that you have made I believe bring value to anyone who watches these videos. Do not apologize about explaining the situation that Ashville is going through. I personally going through a tough situation after being laid off from my job after company I worked for has hired contract workers to take over the work I was doing. This is the second time that has happened to me but this time but I am finding it more difficult looking for a new job since I am now over 60 years old. It inspires me to continue to look for a job when I see you and Ashville work through these difficult times. Thanks

One thing your volumetric concrete mixers have over the Ready Mix Concrete, is they are not restricted by travel distance or time before the concrete starts to set, so i would consider it more of an advantage as the ready mixers tend to need to get to locations and dump before concrete goes off. Having worked as an inspecting engineer for an engineering firm, one job was almost comprised due to the truck getting stuck in traffic, as it was travelling for an extended period. Where there is struggle, there is opportunity and I'm sure you will overcome your own struggles, in time.

Terminating HS2 at Old Oak Common was insane. All the time, materials, and money invested in the corridor and all the property and land purchases, demolition, enablement works etc was waisted. Old Oak Common would have required a redesign. Any time advantage would be lost with the passenger interchange at OOC. In the end, with the additional works to fudge this, you end up with a poor compromise that makes very little savings over completing the project as originally planned. It's a similar story in Manchester. £85m on a new chord between Manchester Piccadilly and Victoria stations, then the next phase to increase capacity along the Castlefield corridor and Piccadilly's through platforms (13 & 14) was cancelled. Net result is the Ordsall Chord is now a white elephant as there isn't the route capacity for it to be used as intended. Just one train per hour uses it. It should have been at least four per hour. The trouble is we have career politicians who have never worked in the real world.

No government EVER has been able to consistently make sense. They are all complete numpties! Professional politicians they came straight from university and have never had a real job or any real responsibilities. Pathetic. World wide.

I know you’ve not got your wheel wash set up in the new yard, and that your team are busy in and out of building sites all week, but you should get someone to clean the outside of the lorries each week. The sign writing on the sides is your mobile advertising, it’s your brand, it’s something you should be proud of. But if you don’t care about the brand enough to clean the lorries (and the cement hopper for that matter) then people will assume that of the work too. Same goes for things like the jersey barriers, you painted the weighbridge and then stopped.

Apparently bankruptcies have increased by 63% since this time last year. Businesses are moving out of the country and setting up abroad, most businesses can't put their prices up as things are difficult for their customers so were does the money come from to pay the extra cost of employing people. For some time some businesses I deal with have told me they would like to employ more people buy it just isn't worth the extra cost.
@JK-nv2oz6 күн бұрын
It’s not about taking extra people on anymore, it’s now about job losses to allow businesses to survive.

HS2 is proof of how short sighted the UK goverments and population are. No one, NO ONE, recalls the issues, delays and complaints for the Elizabeth Line or HS1 - those lines work fantastically and are absolutely vital for the UK. HS2 is just as vital, if not moreso because there's a lot of stagnant potential up north, especially Leeds and Manchester. I am convinced that once it's constructed no one will remember the issues of overspend or rehoming of badgers, they'll only think this is the standard that all train lines must now follow. The debate shouldn't be about whether we should build HS2, the debate should be when is HS3 and HS4 coming
@je82775 күн бұрын
Except it goes to the midlands, not the north? That’s the short sight of it. That and privatisation

@HMSDaring14 күн бұрын
@@highlight9014 I live in a world where I refuse to believe that a government would actually commit to building high speed rail from London to Birmingham only. It’s a delusional world yes, entirely detached from reality but I cannot fathom how a government can genuinely go ahead and starve the economy and industry of such an important improvement. I think it’s inevitable that the line gets at least built to Manchester
@bjw5093 күн бұрын
The reason no one kicked off at the Elizabeth line is because it was run under tfl, so fares are fair. How much is a ticket from Brum to London going to cost you? The cost of a ticket will judge hs2 a success or a failure.

On the subject of the VW Dpf..they can be cleaned, there are products that can be poured into them but a more effective way is for a specialist to reverse flush and clean them. Short journeys around the doors, start/stop do them no good, a good drive up the motorway gets them nice and hot, helps them re-gen. 👍

Keep pushing through Daniel, remember you are the GOAT 🐐🐐 on a more serious note get your business development team to really build relationships with the potential customers. They need to be where the customers are and really build relationships. If it's taking them for a slap up lunch, games of golf, industry events, meet the buyer, dropping boxes of donuts off on sites or at thier HQ on a Friday. All these things work, I've worked as a buyer in the construction industry for 20 years. They really need to become a persistant pain in the ass to these customers, in the nicest and most professional way. You need to be visible and always around. It's relentless and tiring but trust me it works. When you have these customers on board they will be happy to work with you on price. Buying on price alone is a mugs game. Service, service, service. What makes you different? Having someone they can pick the phone up to and say, I need a favour, I need 'X' by 'Y' if you can help them out then you are golden. Good luck Daniel wishing you every success 🍀🍀

The budget was an attack on all small businesses, the minimum wage and national insurance increases will mean job losses for sure. Any business employing 10+ people now have to find tens of thousands for the tax increases. Taking more staff on has been disincentivised, redundancies will make the economy even more worse off.

Daniel, given your love of trains, and your apparent love of travel, this might interest you. it seems that in the US, you are legally allowed to have your own private railroad car. It costs between $100k-200k but if you want to make it livable, it’ll cost up to $500k. I believe you can call up a special service to hook it up to any Amtrak rail and travel across the country, and that Amtrak charges $2 per mile (which puts UK track access charges into perspective). Apparently, the US even has a dedicated group of owners such as the railroad passenger car alliance (RPCA) and American association of Private Railroad Car Owners (AAPRCO) I don't know if this is all available to non-residents; if it is, you might have some fun holidays when times get a bit better :)
