Speaking of nervousness, which you touch on around 3:30 I believe, is there any truth to the idea that if you have just one glass of wine or one beer before performing a concert, it can hep more than it will hurt by calming the nerves and preventing nervous shaking? Just ONE! haha

Well, any kind of crutch or habit is generally a bad idea as you can become reliant on it. You might also be sacrificing clarity and focus for nerves. Right and left hand planting and preparation has been the most help for me. Also, if I'm going to barf on stage from nerves it probably shouldn't smell like wine! That comes after the concert!

I have a suggestion. I learned a Eddie Van Halen practice, practice when watching T V . Do nothing but the plating over and over for a 1hr show. Or more .But look to see if your hand is set right from time to time. Ive learned the hand drifts. Victory comes from the attention to simple things. ( A karate saying ).

Hello good night!! I have a question: when I’m practicing planting on the first string, my nail sounds very loud, before I play the note. And it happens to me every time my nails arrive at the strings!!! Do u know what is the reason??? Thank u!!
@Thisisclassicalguitar
@Thisisclassicalguitar 6 жыл бұрын
Well, make sure to make nail AND flesh contact, that might help a bit. Also, maybe your nails are a bit long? Check out my full nail lesson: www.thisisclassicalguitar.com/fingernails-on-classical-guitar/

Gostava de ter um livro dos exercícios, para a mão direita. Como posso proceder para ter o seu PDF? Gosto das suas aulas mas não apanho muita coisa porque o meu inglês é fraco. Obrigada pelas aulas.

So these planting techniques are mostly meant for exercising ? Do guitarists use them when they play a piece ? i hope someone can help me out ?
@cobain200

because i think you can never be as legato with arpeggios combined planting then without . But maybe i am wrong??
@classicalmaster2459
@classicalmaster2459 4 жыл бұрын
Planting technique is a tool for improving your arpeggios and is great for right hand development. There are however pieces where this technique is necessary, like Asturias by Isaac Albéniz for guitar.

Is planting referring to rest stroke?
@ww3032
@ww3032 3 жыл бұрын
Not the same. Rest stroke refers to where your thumb or your finger ends up after plucking a string. If it's resting on the next string, that is rest stroke. Otherwise it's a free stroke. Planting refers to placing your finger or thumb on the string BEFORE playing the note. hope that clears things up.

what you call 'no preparation' is actually exactly the same thing as preparation, only executed faster. It feels like no preparation, but it really isn't. You can't play a note if you don't prepare in some way
@Thisisclassicalguitar
@Thisisclassicalguitar 4 жыл бұрын
That's true, muscle memory is a form of preparation but I just this is more of a deliberate practicing method to achieve that muscle memory.

@@Thisisclassicalguitar I think it's about the only way too achieve it when it comes to playing guitar. So. brilliant lesson! But it baffles me that this isn't the first thing that's teached. reaching for the strings is useless..it's actually the arm that plants the fingers..if you think about it.

When playing PIM or IM, the Guitar players experts have their pinkie (C. or. X )is curled up like a baby, which I struggle to do. My pinkie is very upright like the Thumb. Is my problem common?
@Thisisclassicalguitar
@Thisisclassicalguitar 6 жыл бұрын
The pinky finger should be relaxed, curved but not tight and also not straight out. Gain finger independence and skills and it will all work out.

and where is the inverse planting p a m i which is more difficult - how it works when trying to playing some sextuplet arpeggio

Wouldnt that be staccato?
@Thisisclassicalguitar
@Thisisclassicalguitar Жыл бұрын
It can be, but the intention here is different. Staccato can be achieved in a variety of ways (right hand and left hand) but this has intentions outside of the articulation itself as the video suggests.
