Marianne Faithfull Interview on Mick Jagger, Heroin, and Being Denounced by the Pope (1999)

On 9 June 1999, Marianne Faithfull sat down with ITN's Trevor McDonald for an extended interview in which the acclaimed singer and actress reflected on her turbulent life in the public eye. Five years after releasing her memoir, Faithfull: An Autobiography, Faithfull candidly discussed her rise to fame in the 1960s, her relationship with Mick Jagger, and her struggles with drug addiction and homelessness. She opened up about losing custody of her son in 1970, and her subsequent attempt to take her own life. She remembered being denounced as a witch by the Vatican and talked gratefully about the revival of her career in the 1980s.
