Princess Diana Keeps Harry and William in Line at Trooping the Colour (1989)

On Saturday 17 June 1989, Queen Elizabeth II took part in the Trooping the Colour ceremony to mark her official birthday. Also in attendance were her husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh; her son, Prince Charles, Prince of Wales; her daughter-in-law, Diana, Princess of Wales; her grandchildren, Prince William and Prince Harry; her mother, Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother; and her sister, Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon. ITN's cameras captured the Queen tapping her feet along to the music before taking the salute from the 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards, as they took their turn to troop the regimental colours past the monarch. Cameras also captured a giddy and restless Prince William trying to keep himself entertained during the lengthy parade.

I do think this idea by the royal family that they all have to be on display at these events at all times, makes a mistake when it comes to small children. Small children do not have the capacity to sit and behave for two or three hours straight in the sun being watched by thousands of people. It simply is not fun for them and they have to get up and do something. So keeping them, quiet and keeping them behaving is an antithesis Of what should be done with small children Sitting or standing for for hours at these pomp and circumstance events that the royal family has to attend. I loved Diana and I thought she was her children well.

Money and fame really does make a huge difference in how the common folk and rich are treated. It is a caste system all over the world. No it was the late Queen who slimmed down the working royals. King Charles has done a great job. He is very kind and does and always has done a lot to help people. Look at princes' trust, over 1 million helped around the world. He donated all money from wind farms to the cost of living to support those in need. He was working on climate change and way ahead of his time on organic no chemicals. Saving wildlife with traditional farming incentives. Which William has taken forward now. Don't underestimate his kindness and intelligence. He is his mother's son. A wonderful job with d-day despite having cancer. He's a workaholic, too. Don't forget we have lost a few now who have passed away. A great king who truly cares about the country. I'm very proud of our King, he did us proud overseS with the d day remembrance events. A true statesman. God save the king
