Prince Charles and Prince William Funny Press Conference on Gap Year Plans (2000)

On this day in 2000, Prince William was joined by his father, Prince Charles, Prince of Wales for a press conference on his younger prince's plans for his gap year. Speaking in the gardens of Charles's Gloucestershire home of Highgrove, William described receiving his A-Level results while up a mountain in Belize, his plans to go to Chile on his gap year, and how he went about raising the funds for his travels. he also spoke about how upset he and his brother Prince Harry were about the publication of a book about his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.

Of course he was and is well spoken. He was and is extremely well educated. That interview was the year before university, so at that age, a well educated individual is, indeed, well spoken. In addition, his upbringing was the best, where education, respect, and good manners were on top of the list. Prince William has always been extremely well mannered and respectful.

It was not every day but she was the 1st royal to travel with children so that was different. It seemed like it was initially 1st day of their school, royal events & probably inc. interest after Diana passed. Now there is too much coverage of PH & MM. It's constant, too much complaining when they live in luxury & we in the states don't see them doing anything productive.

This shows how thoughtful the training and education of William was, as it must be for a future King. Beyond an excellent education it included hands-on working with those less fortunate and to improve living conditions. His hands-on helping continued with his rescue pilot work after college. No wonder he connects so well with everyday people as he goes about his public duties.

I enjoyed the interview with Prince William. He and his Dad looking so relaxed and having a bit of a laugh together, probably at all the cameras clicking, before the interview started. I have always thought Prince William to be a carbon copy of his late mother, however I see that he also has some of his father’s features as well.
