Could listen to this song over and over. Found an extended version that runs maybe 9 minutes or so of them jamming the instrumentals in the last third. So good. And yes, shes smokin hot! Sheila E was a drummer before the song and she continued to be a drummer after. She's such a good drummer, Prince replaced Bobby Z with her in his video for It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night. Watch the video, which is actually a concert. Sheila went on yo make more music in the spotlight. She made Koo Koo, a ballad called Hold Me, and a hot number titled Sex Cymbal! The real Sheila E fans kept tabs on her and therefore know this.

Her father, Peter "coke"Escovedo was a percussionist in Santana for a few years. He taught her how to play drums, timbales and other percussion instruments. She also played drums with Ringo Starr in his All Star Band. She's a pretty damn good drummer too!

Sheila E played some percussion on the song and sang, and the sax was played by a horn player, but Prince performed every other instrument on this and sang background vocals. It was recorded on off days during the Purple Rain tour. Like other people mentioned, this is the studio version just being lip synced. Funny how the white guy playing guitar sounded just like Prince when he sang. 😂 The album version of this song is about 12 minutes long. In addition to “The Glamoroous Life” she did the song “Hollyrock” from Krush Groove, and Prince played almost all the instruments on those songs too. What happened to Sheila E? I’m assuming while she’s a great drummer and percussionist, Prince wrote the songs she had hits with, and when he wasn’t writing the songs anymore they just weren’t as good from a hit perspective.
