The similarities between your pig sheds and my poultry houses is remarkable. With longitudinal tunnel we found that covering the 50"fans gave us less drafts and less temp fluctuations. Great barn.

Now thats the explanation that everybody can live whit,good thinking about the setup,i quess that took more time than build the whole barn which is normal, good preparation is the keyword and you guys did,thanks and greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer and keep drinking milk

A little pro tip for you on your curtains, when it’s time to replace them , leave the rope up that holds it to the barn. Replace the curtain but leave the curtain on the outside of the ropes. Once the curtain is replaced cross hatch a new rope over the new curtain. This eliminates a lot of wear from the curtain sliding on the bird wire. The curtain slides on the old rope that holds it off the bird wire. Avoid any vertical ropes so any wear is spread across the the entire curtain rather than a single spot. I install my ropes on 4’ centers with a screw hook every 2 foot. The enter and outer ropes form X’es across the front of the barn.

Great work guys. I am really impressed with what you have achieved and your overall attitude. I have learnt a huge amount about pig farms, how they are built and why they are built a certain way.

Hello! I’m new to pig farming and I was wondering if you could do a sort of cost breakdown video of how much it cost y’all to build this amazing pig barn. Like all farmers know this is a big deal, and a lot of money to invest in your operation.
@neilramseyer53483 жыл бұрын
I would call your local builder. They did some themselves. So saved some money. I doubt they share exact numbers. But building itself, without electric and excavation probably around 400k
@torktalks55733 жыл бұрын
Thanks Cedon! We will be doing a cost breakdown video in the near future. Stay tuned.

@gunter4463 жыл бұрын

All come from company owned sow units in SE. IA and North central MO.
@watomb3 жыл бұрын
Do you change the temperature inside based on the age of the pig?
@torktalks55733 жыл бұрын
Yes sir, all our barns run a pre programmed temperature ramp. We start out at 78 with 21 day old pigs, hold that temp for 10 days and then start dropping it slightly every day to get the barn to 65 by about day 80. Thanks for watching! The brooder heaters run on their own curve for the first 2 weeks. Thanks for watching!

@@torktalks5573 thank you so much I just help people (not for money) an many times it’s like it does not work. So it’s difficult for me to understand the real issue. So thanks for taking the time to answer. I’m just idiot that understands how to program things
@tonyhamilton15693 жыл бұрын
You mentioned your target temperature several times what exactly is that temp?We live in southwest Co and really have enjoyed your videos
@torktalks55733 жыл бұрын
We start the barn at 78. The brooders zone at 82. The brooders are out after two weeks. We ramp the barn to 65 by about 80 days. Thanks for watching!

Is the nipple bar an extra adage to the wet/dry feeders, or is it standard to starting pigs?
@thislldofarm3 жыл бұрын
We highly recommend starting pigs with nipple bars regardless of what type of feeder you have. Pretty standard.
