Also did you add in anyting on silos grain feeders things of that nature for the feed storage? I am learning as well and very interested. Thanks for taking the time

Thanks Shawn! You don’t necessarily need a skid loader but it helps. Also we have our manure spreading contracted out. So we don’t own any of the manure spreading equipment. Excellent, excellent vid. Thx for the post. Now, when you get married, this may be tomorrow or ten years from tomorrow, BE SURE to get a 'before marriage understanding', aka prenup. Reason: As a r.e. ag lender for more than 25 years it has boggled my mind the number of times I've written (or re-written) a loan(s) to pay for a divorce property settlement. Hopefully a marriage lasts for all of a persons days; I firmly believe this. HOWEVER, if it does not, don't cry any crocodile tears when the ton of bricks come falling from the sky when it comes to dividing up hard, slow earned equity. Mark my words.

Thanks for the great video guys!!!!! Full of interesting information! I appreciate your sharing these private numbers with us. Of course the financing is of interest too (no pun intended) such as current rates, terms of loans (15 years for a commercial mortgage?) and loan to value ratios. But all that is very private too. So I mention it, but don't expect you to reveal something if you are not comfortable with it. I think it;s a great move, Sawyer, and your Dad being established in the filed I'm sure helps with your financing/growing contracts. Once again, much obliged to you for thinking of us and sharing!

Great video! You guys that are considering this had better listen up. There are going to be huge changes in this industry in the next 10 years and I wouldn’t touch it. I’m a retired business banker and I’ve studied everything about this issue. (Obviously I’m watching this and talking to you) I can just list the main topics. Animal rights legislation, water use taxes, slurry application rates slashed, H2S in ambient air rules coming up, new methane emissions taxes, labour shortages and regulations. This is a 40 year investment. You don’t want the stress or the risk, plus having everyone hate you. But good news is that there are better designs that are not slurry manure. Dry bedding and straw based designs change you from being a community menace to a local hero. Don’t let big meat companies ruin your life leaving you with all the risks.
@Swampwild12 жыл бұрын
Understand that the high phosphorus content of hog manure, double cattle will be a big problem. If you have to move the stuff far away it’s expensive! Because the new soil science is showing that with intercropping and mixed crops slurry hurts yields. Farmers won’t want it so you’ll have to pay for drying equipment to transport it economically. This is all coming now not 30 years. Like climate change.

This tutorial is for commercial hog farms, not the average family or hobby farm with a handful of hogs which a metal barn would more than suffice for housing the hogs, Concrete floor and straw will work just fine. (No fancy system needed). You do not have to be wealthy to start a farm. Don't be intimidated by the hogwash in this video. You Tube has many farm tours you can see of small, cost-efficient pig farms. You don't have to be wealthy to start a farm and other farmers will be glad to help point the way and lend a hand. That's how real farming is done.
