Hey Karen, I am finally seeing the wisdom and practicality of going slow. That and recovering from brain surgery on July 11. lol. Half way to the end of severe restrictions. Huge milestone in its self. But you asked what I’m working on?! I have devised a plan to work in one room a week. My first, last week, was living room and Foyer. Really the only thing that really needed my attention was the front closet. Did a very deep dive. All out of season clothes have been dealt with. Either goodwill or storage bin. Those in store age were washed and dried. Floor has been discovered and cleaned. Major declutter. Looks and smells so nice. Then today, new week, new room, I started the pantry. I am blessed with an over sized one. I designed our home. Might have been a bit overkill. But I love it when it functions. So today I wanted to get two shelves completely done. Managed one, to the max. Tomorrow doesn’t look good. Am is Dr appointment in neighboring town, afternoon hubby and I have a meeting with our pastor. So since I’m energy compromised, probably won’t get anything tomorrow. Oh well. Grace is built in my plan. You have really helped with that. So I do whatever I can throughout the week in the assigned room. What doesn’t get done will be worked on next time. Figure I’ll have multiple room run throughs over the course of 18 months. lol. We will see. But kinda excited about it.😮

Nice mini clean in Robin’s office space. Plus, the lunch you cooked looked very tasty. I liked Rachael’s painting. She is a very talented with her artwork. Btw regards wax melts versus candles, I agree they are better, but you have to be so careful the cats don’t paw at the hot wax in the top and hurt their paw pads. Also you have to watch they don’t jump up and knock the hot wax onto their fur. Perhaps a waterless desktop defuser that uses natural oils or natural scent sachet plug-in would be safer.

I like the wax melts, I think they are less toxic too, since just the scent is going into the air, the wax is not directly burning up, like with a flame. You can get soy wax and natural scents. I use them in our bathrooms.

what I did today.... well, I cleaned out our large chicken coop. I do that about once a year, meaning emptying it completely and setting it back up for when the hens return from our farm for the winter. It was pretty ick but work we did on it a couple of years ago made the job doable. I have a mama hen with 3 chicks that had to be moved to a mobile "chicken tractor" and I needed to finish the job before the other mama hen hatches hers. The new pullets need more space so they'll get to use the coop before they are joined by the older gals. It's a bit of a dance. What makes this not any type of complaint is that today was the first day in months I didn't wake up with pain from knee bursitis. I finally gave in and got a cortisone shot about 10 days ago. I was being stubborn and really that was dumb. So the whole time I was mucking out the coop I was thinking, "I can't believe it doesn't hurt so much!". When I was nearly done I started hearing sirens and counted 7-8 emergency vehicles and police go by on the main road. I found out later that a child had been hit by a car. I don't know other details but last month there was a teen who drowned in the river. These things are so hard and I pray for these families and I thank God for each day I have with my loved ones. So, I am slowly changing my attitude and mindset about pain and about annoying chores. There are solutions to the pains and honest work is a celebration of what we value. Also I totally would want to organize my husband's desk. Actually I just adopted his desk 43 years ago and now he asks where things are :) What I'm really eyeballing is the shed, cellar, the barn, and (why not?) the farm. heh heh heh. Not actually joking :) But probably I should master my own domain here at home first.

I buy the cotton crocheted dish cloths every year from the church ladies at a craft bazaar. It goes to a good cause but I would love to learn how to make them. They also make ones that are more like a scrubby, the yarn must have plastic fibers in it. I am working on using up our paper supplies like notepads/paper before buying anymore.

I no longer use anything with fragrance not only for my health but especially for my cats health. Some of the essentials oils in scents can cause serious illnesses in pets. ☹️ There are many scents that are especially bad for cats because their noses are way more sensitive to smells than ours. Also, you still need to be careful with wax melts and cats. I knew of a cat that was curious enough he put his paw in the wax and burned his little paw. 😢

I've never rinsed rice.
@michelesusanne1
@michelesusanne1 2 ай бұрын
It's a good idea to rinse it before cooking. It can reduce the arsenic in rice by 30%. Also, rice grains rub together during processing and shipment, creating a starchy dust that can make the grains clump together and give the cooked rice a gummy texture. Rinsing removes this excess starch, resulting in separate grains with a fluffier texture.
