Strictly Stars Speak Out On Giovanni’s Exit From The Ballroom | This Morning

After weeks of speculation, and the launch of an internal BBC investigation, yesterday it was confirmed that Giovanni Pernice will not be returning to Strictly Come Dancing. But amid several claims of backstage bullying and abusive behaviour from former celebrity contestants, why was this allowed to continue for so long? And is this the beginning of the end for TV’s biggest show? We’re joined today by former Strictly dancer Kristina Rihanoff, who says Gio was amongst the strictest dancers on the show, alongside fellow former stars James & Ola Jordan who will be lifting the lid on the conflicts which split the ballroom every year.

As someone who’s had lessons with Giovanni, I don’t have a bad word to say about him, lovely man, never came across as aggressive or rude or patronising, no negative qualities, always a true gentleman and a lovely man, as Kristina said, brilliant choreographer and dancer, gutted he’s left the show

Im afraid right from the first moment Amanda met him the ott reaction the im a perfectionist they way she talked and behaved gazing adoringly at him I thought there was something not quite right, couldnt tell you what but something seemed odd, then seeing the look on her partners face that last dance I said hes not happy with that at all sad though all very sad

Personally, I think this whole thing has been handled badly. It should have all been dealt with behind closed doors so that Giovanni is being treated fairly. He's lost out on two high profile and well-paid TV positions without even being found guilty of any wrongdoing.

I am reminded of the dressing down that the late len good gave to his very good friend brendan cole who had just lost his dad. Turn up train up and shut up. Goodman admonished Cole by giving him that fiery dressing down. Cole said that they always buried the hatched if stuff like that happened and Cole said len came to a lot of his shows when his company was set up.

Since this interview him and his wife have been called abusive bullies by celebs who he danced with on strictly ,he is a very jealous man he was not liked on strictly by other pros and the judges he was very rude to the judges were has his career gone downhill... dancing in shopping centers with his wife with a box for the shoppers to put money in Giovanni has his own shows and teaching studios his shows are fantastic l have been to two of them Green eyed monster indeed very catty Inerview uncalled for l hope nobody tries to defend him after watching that interview.

I heard Amanda on a chat with another person who was on Strictly, he loved it. She was saying about the terrible threatening texts she received from trolls, but that is not his fault and she has made it public. It makes it seem, as if he is the blame for those texts but he is not. Training is hard. When I was at school many years ago, teachers were so tough that you wouldn’t behave like some of these children do today, teachers spending most of the precious time trying to control unruly feral children. This seems to be in every walk of life. Learning anything is tough but the achievements make the journey worth it. I don’t know what happened in that dance training class but it should have been dealt with privately. All over the papers and on chat shows is not, no matter who is to blame. People are judged by what is heard and it can be long lasting.

Because of this farce I’ve decided to not watch Strictly, any teacher can be strict, there is pressure on the professional dancers to produce a decent celebrity and create entertainment. And I do not likethe new trend of destroying someone’s career. Agree. I did musical theatre for years and there were times our director absolutely lost it! But our performances were perfection. It would be interesting to see if any of the male celebs felt the females were aggressive or abusive as from what I have gathered, there are various females who are alot stronger and dominant and aggressive.

These celebs are wel paid to be on this show and it has opened doors to some that would not have been opened. I did ballroom and Latin American dancing years ago and it was hard work and the teachers were perfectionists. As for PTSD that's a bit far fetched. Ive only watched a couple of series of strictly and Giovanni has always been my favourite pro dancer on it his choreography is incredible and from seeing him in interviews and clips he just does not come across as a man who'd be abusive towards any woman as he said himself he only ever tries to bring out the best in any of his dance partners to deliver an incredible dance for the live shows i truly do believe he will be cleared of any wrongdoing and these other 3 women jumping on the bandwagon now seems unfair and like a witch hunt i don't think this has been handled properly by the bbc

It just amazes myself, that a celebrity who in many respects have obviously worked hard to get where they are and possibly pushed others to the side to get where they are but never danced knowing it’s not going to be easy! Perhaps they should try working on an oil rig or similar and see what they prefer? Giovanni was the star of the show. It won’t be long that long before the show comes to an end now. There have been several other cases of 'Celebrities' leaving for 'Personal Reasons'. An example was Danny Jean-Gules. In his case the problem was that Danny thought he was the 'STAR' and Amy was the mere 'Operative'. I think this is a similar case. Amanda thought she could just 'Bole-Up' and further her career but found to her horror that its the Professional/Celebrity relationship which is of prime importance and so not suitable for 'Prima-Donnas!'

You need to understand that her career is now in the balance, (nobody will employ her now she's got a reputation for 'spilling the beans'!), she's all but bankrupt and her boyfriend suspects she was involved with Giovanni. After Giovanni strongly challenged her initial statements and the BBC inquiry was underway with the threat of court action she suddenly comes up with fresh but defamatory and increasingly desperate accusations that are possibly in contempt of court. She possibly also now realises starting this was a mistake!

I think some people can handle his teaching methods and some can't. Saying that though. All the teachings are recorded so maybe there is something on these tapes, I don't know. So the 1st one to leave Pern.... says he will clear his name, but if he has been let go, must mean they have found somethingw rong with his teaching methods, as surely they would just look into it first, but maybe he feels his methods are ok, and has been getting away with it for years. He does, how some have described him, look so sweet, and as a watcher myself, you would never think he would be capable of such acts, whatever they are, but as we know, looks to decieve. There will be quite a few profs on there, not yet mentioned, worried sick about whether their actions fall into the realm of abuse, even those who are pleasant with their celebs might be questioning themselves. There is certainly going to be a fall out, and they need to get it sorted asap before the show and casting starts.

All this was started by that dreadful Amanda Abbingdon, who did not like the discipline, the determination or the desire to do what was needed in order to win. She claims to be suffering from PTSD over it. I think Giovanni has been treated unfairly and very badly by the BBC.

I don't think he did or said a big deal to either of them, probably a bit undiplomatic at times. Nowadays though employers have to take action on everyone's perceived feelings about one situation or another, especially if bombarded with mental health reports. I stopped watching strictly ages ago. It became a farce good dancers being voted off in favour those could not dance at all. Dancing on ice was the same. The public are meant to believe that they are controlling the outcome by the vote I have my doubts

Nope .... in fact 2female executives insisted he apologised after watching the footage back and were appalled by his behaviour. The BBC know what he is and is about, anyone can act,cand put on a front for cameras and people, we're talking about professional actors here, it's their job, and they want yo get paid, just like any other worker does.

Giovanni is the best dancer and most popular on the show. It wont be the same without him. Ive been lucky enough to see his live shows 4 times. Strictly will not be the same again. There will never be anything like what Giovanni and Rose achieved together ever again. Sadly its a great loss. 😢

Strictly Come Dancing has been on our screens now for over twenty years. 15 celebrities a year. So that means over 300 celebrities have taken part in the show. 13 weeks each series. So we have watched and enjoyed about 120 dances per season. Marvelled at the obviously incredible dedication and hard work the "celebs" put into their performances. And of course admired the dedication of the professional dancers who really were given the task of making a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Especially in recent years when woke requirements gave them the most challenging of partners. And now two or three celebrities have complained that they were worked too hard ... and the BBC has gone into a virtue signalling melt down, throwing all the hard working professional dancers under the bus. Potentially ruining their careers and ignoring the joy that this show has given to millions. Absolutely pathetic.
