Personally I do not think that people should go to 90 meetings in 90 days because they're going to be told they are powerless over and over and I think that's the last thing anyone needs to hear when they're trying to overcome alcohol. That is precisely the reason I like you Annie Grace because your method did not leave the drinker powerless.

I went to treatment for alcohol myself, aa and the works. This information is so valuable and is taking me to the next level of awareness. Thanks!

I read Allen Carr's book and visited your KZbin videos and read excerpts of your book (Allen Carr does good work, so I didn't need much beyond that). I felt the same way - an unconscious switch had been turned off and I saw alcohol in a totally different light. I was happily alcohol free for several months before the nightmare of 2020 and quarantine boredom had set in. I started just having a few beers, then I'd find myself almost unconsciously biking/driving to the liquor store every weekend, then every other day... and before I knew it, I was right back in it. I like your perspective of not guilting/shaming yourself. It's easy to say "wow, I've proven I can control it. Let's try it again." However, I'm back off the wagon again and I feel really good about it. I'm re-reading the books and resources that caused me to dramatically change my relationship with alcohol in the first place. For me - I just needed a reminder and to re-read. Maybe it will work for others?

I think when you’re drinking it’s easy to blame every negative thing on the drinking. Feel lousy? It’s the alcohol. Procrastinating? It’s the alcohol. Relationship issues? The alcohol. I think sometimes one of the reasons people hold on to the alcohol is as a weird way to avoid facing their problems. Stop drinking and your scapegoat is gone. Without alcohol to blame, you’re responsible for your choices, you’re responsible for the things you do and say. Hopefully you’ll find you’re actually making better choices without the booze, but, if you’ve been drinking for a while, it could be scary. “What if I’m a jerk even without the booze?” The good news is, that’s highly unlikely.

Annie. I love your videos. I'm a drinker. I can go 3-4 days then the cravings come. I cave in then drink. I drink alone. Do you think you can be genetically prone to drinking? I had relatives who drank alot. Keep on doing what your doing. I have tried to quit 100 times. I also drink because I suffer from anxiety and depression. You have been right on about everything! :)

AA is the worst made me want to drink--their stories and reading of repettitous boring material was not social! I do not want to hear stories of past I moved forward-- Craig Beck helped me and now I am feeling better and better and changed everything

Think I liked all your vids thanks, alcohol makes me feel embarrassed and stupid. Well the hangover does. This weekend I flashed my underwear I'm 39 it's not even funny especially being recorded and put on Facebook. At the time I thought was super funny I just looked like a drunk fool.
