I thought oh no. Maybe you took the box apart with the battery connected and voltage somehow hit the yellow/black wire. The heat and humidity always ratchets up the aggravation a few notches! Great outcome.

If you have a chance, pick up a set of left hand drill bits for taking out stripped heads. A lot of times the bit will grab and bring the screw out. Stay after it!

hey to get the backlash out, simple put the control in forward detent then back again just out of neutral (still in forward) so when you click the control to neutral, the idle stop screw is firmly against the block. really only way to do these. cheers man.

Now, don't be too hard on yourself. You didn't check the grounds in the first place because you connected those yourself earlier so you assured they were good. Well I know, as the wise man says: never assume anything but that super hot temperature sure clouds up one's mental process. You are due for a cold gear !

@THISOLDOUTBOARD1
@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 Ай бұрын
@@danielscrapper8207 Well it's not that hard depending on the overall condition. Every crack- crevasse - hole- passageway needs to be surgically clean. Might be a good idea to soak them in some chem clean first. Go to mareengine.com, look up your model and this will give a price on the rebuild kits you'll need. Thanks and Good luck!

Anyone do the seafoam shock to clean gummed up carbs? I heard 1 can of seafoam to a gal of gas will clean them right up. Any truth to that???
@THISOLDOUTBOARD1
@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 Ай бұрын
Guess not. Hahahaaa. Seafoam, from what I remember, was/is used more for "decarbonizing" an outboard with the procedure you mentioned. I guess it would also help clean the carbs but not a known practice with the 1 can/ 1 gal mixed oil/fuel that I've ever heard of. I did the "decarbonizing" once, about 100 years ago. Long drawn out process. Never knew if it decarbonized the motor or not. Carbs are a different animal, it's a whole different process, if it was as easy as running a can of seafoam through the fuel system we would all have it made, and my carb cleaning video wouldn't be at 263,619 views. I guess I should thank the seafoam people for that. Don't get me wrong, Seafoam has some great products, and they're always adding more! Most recommended / Use/soak in the chem dip carb clean, or get a ultrasonic parts cleaner or just dig right in and get er done! Not a big deal!
