Great video! I definitely want to try the baking mats and silicone covers!! Not sure if you have ever heard of Norwex, but they have several cleaning items that "self clean" so that you don't run into issues with bacteria like you do with traditional sponges. They also have many ways to get rid of traditional disposable items.

I rarely use my dryer as I have indoor built-in and outdoor clothes lines. Dryers are tough on fibers and elastic and use a lot of energy. Great ideas! Thank you!

You can get a dish sponge now that is made out of silicone. I love mine.

My favorite video you’ve ever made! Keep the eco-switches coming! I am in love with Stasher Bags! And making an effort to shop package free/glass or metal packaging has been my latest change. And composting food waste. Thanks for sharing!

Yay! Thank you! I think I may add some Stasher bags to the Christmas list this year!

Love to see videos like this for people that are becoming more environmentally conscious! As others have said, they do make silicone sponges for dishes. I also have the washable sponges from Marley’s monsters that I like a lot. European dish cloths are great for wiping up your counters etc with cleaner at the end of the day. Have also transitioned to microfiber cloths for cleaning glass, etc. I’m a grove member so have both cloths from there and they’re great. I use sal’s suds for my all purpose cleaner concentrate with their glass spray bottles and they’re wonderful. Also recently started to use the tub and tile cleaner concentrate they make and it’s great. They also make brushes for the bathroom with interchangeable heads that are dishwasher safe. I’ve had my stasher bags for over two years and while they are pricey, they’re totally worth it and have held up great. I got a five piece multi pack and love it. Use the two big ones mostly for storing veggie scraps in the freezer than making veggie broth once they’re full.

Yes! I have those same concentrates from Grove, but I haven't put them to use yet! I need to get on that! Great recommendations all around!

Great video! I always love learning about others’ reusable habits! I switched to reusable cotton rounds a few months back for my toner and have loved them! I have also been using a menstrual cup for a couple years now and feel so much better about helping the environment and saving money!

I’ve used a dish towel (either store bought or crocheted) for washing dishes for the past 20 years. Just wash them in the washing machine and reuse. I typically hang mine to dry on my dish rack and use a few days but you can switch out daily if preferred. I tried the dryer balls but my husband hates them. I use a wash line whenever possible though.
@MaggiesTwoCents4 жыл бұрын
Very smart on the dish towel! Also, I'm curious how someone can hate dryer balls! haha they just help dry clothes!

This or That The dryer balls left lint on his socks. I still use them just not with his socks. Lol

Love your videos! Congrats on your marriage! 💗 We have been gradually changing over to more eco-friendly products too (dryer balls, glass storage containers, reusable straws) too. I ordered the silicon body scrubbers from Boie bc of your recommendation and really like. Thanks for all of your tips!

Since you said you make a lot of soups, you might be interested in Souper Cubes (www.amazon.com/dp/B07GSSR5V2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_-PunFbSW3ADF9). They’re a silicone tray where you can portion your leftover soup or broth out into one-cup portions and freeze the tray. When you want to have soup, you just get out a cube from the tray and enjoy. One of my favorite purchases and without the leaking problems from storing them in ziplock bags or something like that!

just an fyi on straws etc. the husband hates it when the metal straws clink as you drive.. so the silicone straws may be better if that is an annoyance too.

I have been using silicone baking sheets for year, they are so great, I use dish towels, you can wash dishes daily with them and at the end of the day I toss it in the laundry hamper and wash and reuse.

Our household has been trying out replacements for mesh loofahs for months. As soon as I saw your recommendation, I clicked on the link, read the reviews, and bought one. *fingers crossed* Thanks!

I hope you love them! They are definitely something you have to get used to holding - kind of bizarre at first - but once you overcome that hurdle they're great!

Good video and I’ve actually tried becoming more environmentally friendly with items around our house during quarantine....like you pointed out, there’s definitely areas in the house with the biggest being the kitchen where single use items can be eliminated. I got some silicone covers in my Causebox and ❤️ them. Meanwhile...I have something to share about your 1st item which was a Silpat by Demarle which used to be a direct sales company (if you google them) and was bought out by Bon Cook. They have more sizes and a perforated aluminum pan for the Silpat in that size as well as others if you’re interested on the Bon Cook website. In addition, your size which looks like a medium is great for covering 9x11 glass pans like for a lasagna in a fridge- you can’t secure it to the sides but if you put it on the top shelf of your fridge with the Silpat covering it, it should be fine. I have the silpat in a smaller octagonal size too that’s great to leave in the microwave and use as a cover all the time too.

Great video! The best switch I ever made was to reusable menstrual products! You save so much money in the long term and it is really great environmentally. I got a set of pads and a diva cup from Gladrags 7 years ago, and I can't recommend it enough!

Isn't Noir scrubber TPE? Not silicone?
@beap-63 жыл бұрын
The Boie scrubbers are not silicone, they are "thermoplastic elastomer". Probably still good though. They seem to offer the opportunity to send them back when you finished using them so they can be disposed of properly.
@MaggiesTwoCents3 жыл бұрын
After your comment I looked into it, and it seems that one great quality of the thermoplastic elastomer make-up is that it makes the products recyclable! Very interesting - thanks for sharing!

I got the body scrubbers from boie after seeing your first video. I also got the face ones. Love the face ones!!! But the body ones...i feel like I'm not getting my back quite like I was with a pouf. Plus it doesn't fit my smaller hand well. My son seems ok with his though. So I guess we made half a switch. 🤣

i love the idea of using a silicone loofa than a regular one(?), but i feel like the silicone isnt as soft? if you know that i mean - like i feel like the silicone ones will be rougher and scratchier in texture than a traditional loofa ?

It's really not bad! It's definitely not as light and airy as a traditional loofah but it doesn't hurt!
