Did I hear it can control devices even if it's not connected to the cloud? Switchbot has the most lag of any system I've bought so far. 😮

I just got around to setting up my Hub 2. I could have sworn I had my Hub mini after 2021 but had to delete it and unplug it to force all my Meter Plus to connect to the Hub 2. I was having pairing issues with the Hub 2 also but it may have had to do with the WiFi range extender I now use. But I did connect my Hub mini to the range extender and it still wouldn't allow me to migrate my Meter Plus devices over to the Hub 2. I have the original Switchbot curtain motors but purchased the new Curtain 3 motors and solar chargers along with the Hub 2 and another Meter Plus on Black Friday for 40% off. I got everything for around $300 Canadian so I think that was a really good deal. That's like only $225 U.S.! Hopefully there are no issues connecting my Curtain 3 motors. I may give my old Hub mini and original Curtain motors to my partner. I just worry it might cause a conflict if it's using the same WiFi network.

Thanks for the video. Nice beard. ;-) I'm considering upgrading to this hub as part of a Black Friday deal which also includes two Curtain 3 and two solar adapters. We pay more here in Canada. The deal is $238.77 Canadian or roughly $175 U.S. It's 40% off the regular price. One thing I've always wondered but never tried with my hub mini, is control of my Amazon Fire TV Cube. Specifically, normally any Fire TV device remote doesn't have numbers on the remote control but I'm wondering if the Hub 2 can somehow add that. I use an iptv service and I think I could change channels if I was somehow able to enter numbers in for my Fire TV Cube. Normally you have to scroll and select each channel you want since iptv is an app within the Fire TV system. If it could do that then perhaps I could somehow integrate my Alexa to change the channels by voice. That would be awesome!

Why thank you! As far as being able to enter digits from a remote. It really depends on what the Amazon cube can support. If there is a remote out of the market with numbers that works with it then you could easily create something. The hub 2 doesn't allow you to just put in infrared codes so you'd have to have the physical remote or that remote would have to be pre-programmed into the database.

@@ThisSmartHouse I do have one of those bluetooth remotes that looks like a game pad with a keyboard on it. I can enter numbers using that and control my Fire TV Cube. Does the Hub 2 learn bluetooth remotes?

No, it is IR only. I don't think you could use an RF remote either. Have you tried looking at the Home Assistant integration for FireTV? www.home-assistant.io/integrations/fire_tv/ I have it set up on one of my TVs and I can control most functions. You might be able to send channel numbers with the remote.send service.

Thank you for the video is it compatible with Google hub max ? I more or less want it for temp indoor and humidity that Google hub max doesn't have.

I can't find anything anywhere that confirms whether I can ask Alexa what the humidity in a certain room is, using the SwitchBot Hub 2…. is this possible? - Can I say "Alexa, what's the humidity in the garage?" or "alexa ask switchbot what the humidity is" or something? thanks.

I am not 100% sure on Alexa. We only use Google Assistant and I know it exposes the humidity and temperature as individual sensors when using matter. If you use home assistant you could easily expose those sensors back to Alexa through a matter connection.

I for one just don't see buying a proprietary hub like this when Home Assistant is available for free and does SO much more. Maybe if you are looking for a simple way to get into home automation, but then why not go for something like smartthings that supports a lot of different company's devices. From what i'm seeing the companys do with matter (I.E. make it work with there hub and devices but no one else's) i'll stick with HA.
