Josette is celebrating two milestones: her 4 year sobriety anniversary and her first car!
A 2019 graduate and manufacturing team member, Josette started saving for a car while still in the program. After graduation, she moved to another part of town and had to walk an average of 3 miles a day to get to the bus stop for work and errands. “I was determined not to quit, and I focused on making a better life for myself, come rain or shine.” In one year, she had enough saved for a down payment - and a strong enough credit score to get approved for the balance.
“One Friday, I realized I saved the money I needed. My son took me to a dealership. My heart was pounding because I was so excited! Standing in the car lot, I said a prayer, 'Thank you, God. I’m finally here.”
The proud grandmother says her car takes her to people who have her heart. “What I love the most is being able to pick up my grandchildren and spend quality time with them. It makes me feel so good.”
“My car is more than transportation. It symbolizes everything that I have accomplished and my independence. I love my life now. I never want to go back to my old lifestyle. My car key represents my hope and motivation to keep moving forward.”
