what a beauty...amazing mice didn't destroy the interior over the years. Pontiacs were a real step up from the Chevys...much nicer trim and a bigger V8. A comprehensive detail on this car and then its ready for its closeup!

Absolutely beautiful car. Love the dash and the interior. They just don't make these classics anymore and that is quite sad

I owned one of these! 1957 Pontiac Star Chief Catalina 2-door hardtop (same body shell as the '57 Chevy Bel Air 2-door hardtop). I bought mine in 1974 in Los Angeles, from the original owner, who had repainted it from the original colors of Limefire and Seacrest Green. It had been repainted Metallic Forest Green with a white side sweepspear. Mine had PS/PB, Wonderbar radio, heater, wide whitewalls, Rochester quadrajet carburetor, and of course, the 347-V8 with Dual-Range Hydramatic, and Positraction rear end (first year it was offered). I really enjoyed driving mine! Interior was original Limefire and Seacrest Green with real leather seats. I owned it until selling it to a member of the National POCI Pontiac Club in Sacramento, California, in 1986.

My parents owned one of these Pontiacs, exact same year, model, color combination and hubcaps. They drove it all over the Eastern US while we were on summer vacations in the late 50's and early 60"s.

Definitely needs the correct wide-whites. GMC also used the Pontiac 347 in their light-duty trucks, among other variations of Pontiac V8's in different years.

Back in 1964 I bought a 57 Pontiac Star Chief that came from the factory with Tri-Power (three duces) and three speed stick shift. I am sure it had to have been a special order back then. It had a 2:75 rear end gear. I would drag race the Chevy 327 cubic inch 300 horse power new Chevy Impales and could nose them out or not lose by much only using first and second gear in the quarter mile.

Without seeing the underside, I'd say this car is a real find. Worth some money. I think in 1957 each division of GM had their own engine plant. In 1957 Chevy was going after the power guys with Fuel Injection, 4 speeds, positraction, etc. and Pontiac was more of a Ladies car.

Wow! What a great looking car. For a fire safety issue, I would seriously consider removing those old road flares from the glovebox. I know that from many years ago that many cars would carry those in the trunk, but as time goes on, those will deteriorate and they can ignite in a hot car.

The upholstery is NOT original. Mine was leather and there was an "off the shoulder" pattern to the color division. Probably an early restoration. Yep, rides like a couch and corners like one, too.
