I was like Alex when I was younger. I went on all the trips and loved it. I was in marching band in high school and we traveled all over the state (Kentucky, my home state) and neighboring states for competitions. We even got to go to Disney World in Florida for Magic Music Days. This was in 1992 so I don't know if they're doing it now. We rode school busses all the way down there and back with overnight stopovers in Georgia both ways where we slept in high school gyms in our sleeping bags, boys and girls on separate sides of the gym and parents slept in the middle 😆. Those were the days. Now as an adult, I don't want to go anywhere haha. I'd rather stay home where all the comforts are and the people aren't 🤣 Edit - y'all need milk for spicy things. Chocolate milk works the best lol

My high school did a ski trip every year (just one day). I had never skied before, so, the weekend before my first trip in grade 7, I went to our small local ski hill for lessons. These chili gummies... bad memories! We get a lot of small bags of such fruitgums in stores or from companies as marketing presents. My son used to love gummy bears and similar. So, I kept these little bags for him in my handbag as treats. One of them was obviously a chili one and I did not know it. This was more than 15 years ago and back then I would have never dreamt that anyone would make flaming hot gummies. My son was five and he actually put the whole thing in his mouth. Luckily, I had some chocolate in my bag also that I gave him to eat after he spit out that hot gummy, the fat in the chocolate made it a bit better. But I felt horrible that I gave him those gummies and very angry that they DID NOT HAVE a warning printed on the package!

totally understand not going on a school trip because of the journey. back when I was in 11th grade I refused to go on a trip to sweden because I’m terrified of boats and we had to take a ferry so I stayed home. but oh did our principal get mad. he even made my dad come to his office and explain why I refuse to go and then made me go to the classes of the 10th grade for the whole week and gave me all these stupid assignments.
