A tortured soul, well-played by Gossom. I think Israel's love of scripture impacted Andy.

I never understood why Israel committed suicide. Andy told him straight up that he believed that he was innocent. Bobby and LT Fancy believed he was innocent as well, everybody in the squad did. He wasn't going to be arrested for the murder of Brian.

I always wondered that too. Israel was a a kind and gentle person and he seemed to have a genuine affection for Brian. He also seemed to understand what was going on between him and the father. It could be that Israel was anguished over Brian's death and disgusted with the father combined with the stress of his arrest and confinement which sent him over the edge, maybe he just couldn't take it anymore, all the repulsive evil of this case. Very tragic character.

I like sipowicz's character, but he treated the mute guy like shit..no need for that. A gentle soul like that responds much better to kindness, reason, and logic. Yes, he's mute, but not stupid.
@omargabr51863 жыл бұрын
yea he did, but it was because it was a kid missing, and over the series run i notice andy takes kid cases more serious than anything else

Ya, sometimes the harassment is warranted but here it felt wrong and too much. The writers wanted the mystery but wouldn't any detective with a suspect trying to communicate in scripture call a priest or minister to help interpret what he's trying to say?
@Procket123 жыл бұрын
It was an act to try and ferret out the father since he was the true culprit. It's why Andy went back to Israel later to apologize for putting him through that.

Andy had to go hard at him, at first to see if he’d crack and then as part of a trick to get the real killer to confess, but you can see once he realized Israel was innocent, Andy was kind to him. Such amazing actors. This show was truly one of a kind.
