Was sailing down the Hudson from Albany to NYC in 1985 and anchored off Bannerman's Island one evening. Rowed the dinghy over to the island and was thrilled to explore the ruins. Found a nice pile of bricks in the castle ruins and sat down and smoked a funny cigarette, hopeful that the walls were not going to fall in on me. Was fun to roam with the spirits and for a little while to be king of the castle.

My dear family friend, Eleanor Seeland grew up on that island. Sweetest woman in the world.

Good to see this place saved and protected. I always find it so sad to see such a beautiful historic place left to fall apart.
