I imagine that doing the artwork and music at the same time and in the same place enabled that. I think it’s like a feedback loop of the music informing the direction of the artwork and the artwork informing the direction of the music. And I think the same thing goes for the listener. The music affects how we see the art and the artwork affects how we hear the music. And it all works symbiotically to create that world in our minds. Idk maybe I’m just rambling.

A very different side of Thom showing through, smiling. even laughing! and seems to be totally at ease. It shows how essential that time was for him and thank you so much Stanley for helping to bring him back and reconnecting to his soul. Wonderful to have an idea of how the covers were created!! I thank the Higher Power who was by their sides during this time. Without it, what might have happened to Thom & Radiohead.....we wouldn't have The Smile and we wouldn't have this "gem" of a musician with us now. I find it pretty fascinating how Stanley Donwood is a sort of shadow member of Radiohead, and yet has had a massive influence over the audience's perception of their music. There is a sort of loop between the music and the artwork that makes them inseperable from one another

Kid A's album cover is easily one of the most if not hauntingly beautiful cover. It sounds just like the album. Radiohead is the best band in terms of the album covers portrayed. I mostly bought kid A for the cover itself cause its beautiful to look at. My hair stands up whenever I stare at the cover especially listening to the transition of the panic in National Anthem and the heartbreaking How To Disappear Completely. To explain it shortly, this album can be described by "art is meant to disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed." I am simply both.

I always liked the crying demons on page five, especially the one with the running headless man behind it. It looks so clean, like it's a tattoo I would want to get. And the graveyard on page eight. It's so spooky. And on page 13 it's the crying demon again with this really spooky beast walking by a tree on these grid lines. I thought that was really cool looking. I think after listening to Radiohead for 20 years now Kid A is my ultimate favorite record, and I always appreciated the art of the album. SO it's really cool to hear this interview. Thanks!

I tattooed one of those crying minotaur-like demons on my right foot. My girlfriend at the time had gotten some tattoos on her feet, so I thought, I can take that lol. So tender. Hurt so much, so uncomfortable getting it on there. That crying Demon reminds me that even monsters feel. Most times when you meet some real A-hole, it's just a very hurt person who was hurt a long time ago and never learned or was never taught how to cope with pain. It's easier to make someone feel your pain with hurtful words than it is with reason and articulation sometimes. Only love can kill the demon. Be kind. Even to us monsters. Signed, some guy that's been working to solve his anger issues since childhood without professional help.
