Most cats are reversed polarity from humans, try covering your cat in helium balloons and rub it on your staticky guitar. I don’t know if this works but please film and post your attempts 👍🏽🤣

I have nickel allergy and I'm using Elixir strings without a problem. Frets are not an issue for me it seems even though I used to have quite severe allergic reactions. One tip is to stay away from water since water/moist makes the nickel penetrate you skin easier. when it comes to the bridge you could use some seethrough nailpolish for the part of the bridge you often touch.

9:09 It might also be caused by hot wire being connected to ground. This way any time your touch part that's grounded you effectively touch tip of your cable Which as we know mainly makes loud noise

I like the talk about strings. I have kinda obsession with trying different brands/materials/gauges. The playing experience say between Elixirs and Ernie Balls is huuge. Great discovery for me was pure nickel strings, I love the feel and sound. Also, in my humble opinion, there is bigger difference in tone between different string materials, then different pickups (in the same cathegory) ;). Keep those videos going, cheers.

I live in Southern Georgia (throw a rock and see Florida) so Humidity is a constant battle. I'm currently working overseas and bought a Morales acoustic (70's Japanese Martin Copy) off a gent from the Philippines that was subjected to high humidity for who knows how long without proper care. Destroyed nut, ancient strings, bowed belly... a total $50 basketcase case but with some elbow grease and parts it made for one hell of a player with a cool story.

"What makes guitars easy to play?" Oh MAN! Magic, mojo? I have a few very similar guitars, same neck profile, scale, fret size, same string gauge and brand, all setup by me to the same spec, etc. and still one of them, my Shine WT240 SG copy, "plays itself", and all the rest of them fight with me. If I could find the magic that one has, I'd do it to all the rest of them too.

Concerning static problems: I had A Harley Benton Telecaster with a crackling noise when touching the pickguard beside the pickup switch. I removed the pickguard and glued aluminium foil on the inside of the pickguard: the crackling noise was completely gone!

hey Chris I have a question for your next faq video. How I adjust or reckon if the nut is correct on a double locking tremolo system? If i change strings gauges i need to do something ? Nobody speaks about the nut on a floyd equipped guitar, even on youtube. Thanks man always very informative!

Kris, Once again a fantastic informative show. I am not inclined to work on any of my guitars. I'm worried I would break them. Your information helps greatly to understand even more about my electric guitars and why certain issues happen. Again as always your Tele is awesome and I also purchased a version. Fantastic job Kris..best to Thomann. They need to have locations here in the U.S. very soon. Thomann USA? Thanks for the shows.

For "what makes guitars easier to play" I have also recently noticed that break angle can impact quite noticeably how the action, even if it measures the same between two guitars, "feels" to play. Higher break angles behind the nut or bridge regardless of type of bridge can make something as little as fretting a note feel stiffer, let alone bending.
@mesquita6786

You can feel this on the break angle of a tune o matic bridge when you lower the stop bar Funny bumping into your comment, I watched many of your videos a couple of years ago, it's a small internet I guess!

This videos are really helpful! I wanted to ask... I tried fixing up the electcronics on one of my old guitars. I put in new pots, switch and an output jack. I'm not good at soldering and so know the volume pot doen't work properly (when I turn it down to 0 there is still sound, just a bit quieter) and the guitar crackles a bit, could it be a cold solder problem, or a maybe the ground wire not being connected properly? Thanks Kris

A nice « natural » patina on a natural finished guitar/bass body is wonderful and gives an instrument a lot of character I think. A guitar is a tool and should be used. Not meant to be seating in a case for years. When you see that people are willing to cash out €1000 or plus on top of the guitar to have a « relic » model, all the better if tou can achieve that finish naturally

I have a '94 Pevey Predator guitar, in general everything suits me. But I'm interested in a stratocaster with a hacker near the bridge. How is the humbucker reflected in the variability of the sound? Which musician prefers to play stratocaster with humbers at the bridge?

For the static charge, read somewhere you can use a spray with water, just few drops around and wipe it, never got the problem, so never try.. If it can help and if it works, tell us 😉

Statically charged guitar solution: It’s most likely the pick guard is generating the charge. Rub a dryer sheet on the guitar and it will go away. 😬

I have a Gibson LPM2015 in cherry color. I love the guitar! but it has static problem. I switched pickups (Tonerider AC2), change all pots (CTS Mojotone), wiring ( solid vintage cloth wires), toggle switch, jack, blackplate covers (back covers were textured and had a nasty static sound) and insolated underpickups, toggle, eletronics with aluminium foil and grounded it. The static is now not that noticeable. But it is still there. I got me thinking if it is the finish on the guitar... would cracking the finish as in relicing the guitar with blow dryer and compressed air ( hot and cold) fix that since the wood could “breathe” better?( kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5ushIGdipZ-ibc) Sorry for the long post. With regards, R

12. Not correct. Proper manufacturing, when the wood was dryied as it should won't cause fret sprout. Never. And only when manufacturer, like F(for example) who has tons of guitars on conveyor will tell you fret sprout is fine coz they can't dry their wood as intended and should these days. Just business. But when you buy a Custom Shop Guitar of that manufacturer it won't have fret sprout even if it travels half of Earth 10 times in a raw. Coz builder will use proper dryied wood. But earlier, all manufacturers made all their guitars from proper dryied wood, not only CS options. If you take vintage Fender of Gibson it won't have these issues, unlike today's ones.
@Codename-B
@Codename-B 3 жыл бұрын
Disagree, It's wood's nature. Years after cut and dried it's still alive and if available for it, it will soak humidity from wherever it is. I would partially agree on that this issue could be seen more often on poorly sealed wood (which is the only way the manufacturer can control this issue) but this happens on some models because the level of sealant applied DOES affect tone in a major way. You wont see this issue on lacquered glossy maple fretboards, but open pore rosewood and even Ebony are way more common.
