Funny that Ian Cole wanted a multi year deal and they wasted money on Soucy. Cole is playing over 21 minutes of stellar d for the Utah club and not slowing down while Soucy is eating salary cap that should have gone to Cole. Canucks management really screwed the pooch on this one.

Tocchett is going to be moving on in the near future. He can't fix this team. The unfortunate reality right now is inescapable: This Canucks team is done for the season. Finished. Over. No playoffs. They're just putting in time and collecting their paycheques, and us loyal fans can see it. The only player who consistently works hard and gets results almost every game is Quinn Hughes, who is literally carrying the team on his back. I feel sorry for such a great player like him. Garland also works hard, but he's not getting the support he needs. Demko is way out of shape and not the same guy. Miller is having a bad year for personal reasons. Boeser is clearly just putting in time. So are many of the others. There is no team spirit worth a damn. And above all, their future franchise superstar Elias Petterson totally sucks and is really hurting the team. Once again, Canucks fans are back in the basement after all the positive hopes that were built last season.

Totally agree 100% except I don't believe Toc is the problem. It's the players and mgmt and Toc is caught in the middle. In my very humble opinion, and if I was Allvin/Rutherford: Quinn Hughes (who will go down as the second greatest defenseman of all time) is untouchable and mgmt should do EVERYTHING they can to keep and support him. I would do my very best to keep Lankinen, Hronek, Sherwood, and Garland, but EVERYONE else should be put on the market.

The first game of the season against Calgary pretty much was an exclamation point for how this season was going to go. This is without a doubt the most disappointing Canuck team that I have watched since ‘74. I had even stopped watching them for a time after they lost to the Devils, and I have never done that before.

Why try with Demco in net the game will be lost in the first if he's not at his best. Demco needs to win the first period to salvage his career. Right now he's not a valid nhl goalie. He should go to Abby and break down his game. He spends most of his time on his knees and gets scored on glove hand and five hole. His puck control leaves plenty of rebounds after the spectacular save. Other teams must look forward to him in net.

Been a Canucks fan since 88 when I moved to Vancouver. There has been a lot of bad teams over the years, but probably none as disappointing as this version. Throughout last year, I kept stating that the team was over-achieving; it seems like the coming down took a lot longer than expected and didn't happen until Zadorov and Cole departed and exposed the team's total lack of qualified NHL calibre defencemen beyond Hughes and Hronek (who I would argue is only good when playing with Hughes). The fool's gold season last year wrongly elevated the expectations of fans, and probably fooled management into awarding EP40 with a contract that his plays do not justify. Last year's team should have been a marginal playoff team, and this year's version is no different if not slightly worse due to the defensive woes. Not having a healthy Demko who can stand on his head to single-handedly win a couple games like he did during Boudreau's tenure make things that much worse.

As a Canucks fan, you get a blip once a decade that something good is happening. It is always shortlived. This franchise always reverts to its default setting for mediocrity. It's hard to pinpoint why, it seems to always be a series of micro-decisions that take things off track. And add to that, a GM that has shown flashes, but who is currently not capable of doing much to address this, aside from sending Friedman down and bringing Brisebois up.

Drance it's baffling to you because you don't understand the Xs and Os! This team was showing signs of this style of hockey going into the playoffs last year. They were out-played by Nashville but won the series based on individual play and a better line-up. Rutherford and Alvin did their job - that line up under a better coach would have gone to the cup final! When so many players are struggling - your star centres - Hoglander 2 goals - your all star goalie and Lankinen who was so good early in the season, you're watching is a system/style of play that is always a step behind - it's not aggressive enough - they're stuck and almost standing still in the own zone and as a result there's no transition or offense. The players have lost confidence in the system - that's what you're seeing and that's why they're losing!
