Thomas & Friends AEG Gordon No4 Motorised Trackmaster 3 The Elephant In The Room 🙀

Thomas and Friends All Engines Go has a new line of toys, this review looks at Gordon the No4 motorised engine. This Gordon is very big compared to the previous Trackmaster 2 Gordon. And maybe by simply comparing Trackmaster 2 & 3 Gordons we get a feeling for whats changed. There are many changes and lots of details now missing. For me to purchase this Gordon I had to fight to get it out of store and go online to find a product code to explain to staff how to let me make my purchase.
All Engines Go toy trains have brought a totally new fresh look to the Thomas & Friends franchise. Maybe this new look has worked better in the 'push along' Metal Engines Vs the Motorised toys. I find the Trackmaster 3 All Engines Go toys to be a tad too big and too tall, the engines rear coupler is way too long. And maybe the strangest detail is little bits of plastic to represent wheels that are parts of larger steam locomotives. I show a classic ERTL Gordon from 1989 to showcase how the wheels are represented correctly. But 1989 was a very long time ago and the Thomas toys have had a constant and restless change in design to keep the toys looking fresh. These new designs seem to always allow the previous toys to become 'classics'.
A mini feature in this video is a visit to another Kmart (not my local Kmart) to see what's being shoplifted. Curious and different dynamic going on.

There's always that small percentage of people who don't play by the rules. And when a retailer can't read the tea leaves and has a shop design that only assists the lawless you're only going help a problem and not solve it. Using all teenage staff doesn't help either. If you have staff who are educated in spotting trouble and understanding trends the people doing the shoplifting would have been nabbed months ago. Constantly restocking shelves with stock without any form of deterrent is only giving the thief a green light to continue stealing. At the moment I'm now doing everything I can to at least have the Hot Wheels 20 Packs have a 'wire spider' put around them and this will arrest the stock from being manipulated in store. But why is a customer fixing what staff needed to fix 6 months ago? The crime here falls on both sides.

Here's a tip for fixing the wide gap between the tender and the engine: Swap out the long coupling with a TM2 one. Problem resolved!

I did something like that. I took the AEG Motorized gordon and tried to connect the longer coupling with the screw bar of the tender, to make a permanently connected tender. It sorted the big gap very nicely but he couldn't go around curves that well

From what I know on Hot Wheels and 20 packs, some can include Treasure Hunts or Super Treasure Hunts (very highly collectable versions of normal castings), which could be why those have been targeted excessively. Real life castings of cars are also in them, as well as exclusive color combos that aren't seen outside of the 20 pack line. (Another possible reason for why some packs could have been emptied out so much.) The Collector series car (Car Culture Series) that you showed at 23:53, those have rubber tyres, as well as custom molded rims of the real life car. Which may be why that was a target as well, as those can pull larger amounts over normal cars, along with the 20 packs. (Retails for around 7-15 USD depending on where you find them) The person doing the shoplifting definitely knows what they're after (Pokemon cards as well/other collectable toys) to be a child for how many instances have been shown, as well as the height of the rest of the items packaging left behind. The store definitely needs to install more cameras around, and keep a higher alert of these troubling areas of the store more than they are for sure.

Have had similar experiences in the past from a couple of different locations of the same store in Brisbane Seems to help if management understand the issue and work with the customer satisfaction program. The front wheels on Gordon are 'Bogie' wheels as there are 4, the 2 below the cab are 'Pony', as there are only 2. As someone has previously commented, the 4-6-2 configuration of wheels on a locomotive are known as 'Pacific' which is what Gordon has.

All engines go is getting quite popular as I recently saw some new pictures for future all engines go toys like some new sets and packs as well as push alongs of color changing engines of Thomas,Percy and Kana. And we’re also gonna get a 3 pack of Kenji,James and even Henry. Gordon is a 4-6-2 'Pacific' locomotive, and I think the ERTL version may be one of the few that got his wheel arrangement right. (The Pacific nickname came about in 1901, when the NZR 'Q' class were shipped from the USA to New Zealand via the Pacific Ocean).

so ive been into the pokemon cards for a long while now and can say there is a very clear method in what people take. there are different types of box sets that have different type of cards in them. an elite trainer box has a bunch of packs in them, card sleeves and other goods. most of the time only the packs that are in them are taken. in a pervious video it was a shining fates one. there are some absolutely insane prices from certain cards in that set. shining fates anything will be sold or stolen instantly. depending on how desperate they will check 3-4 times a day. sometimes a code card will be taken too but that also depends on the set. collection boxes on the other hand are a different story. if its a movie based one they will be robbed more than a normal one. for some reason the price of a box in store also seems to matter. ive seen more 20 dollar ones be torn into than the more expensive 50 or 60 dollar ones. the pokemon card set that you found was strange because those cards dont sell for much and the full art trainer card that was left would be the most desirable thing. the tins you have to be carful about. ive got a few that have been somehow resealed to look like its never been opened and i dont know how the hell one can do it. tins are always opened as well.

It's incredible when you're accused of shoplifting. The normal procedure is this 'can you show a receipt for whats in your bag' NOT putting a TARGET store scanner over something you purchased from another shop. One day the full story will be told and how my complaints were handled. It made me aware how a toxic 'protected' staff person can basically get away with doing anything they want. Zero thought is put into how a customer is made to feel like a criminal by these actions.

I'm also no expert with plastics, but seeing as the wheels on that Gordon are fine, it might just be a batch of bad plastics Mattel used when producing these toys? I've seen the same thing happen on the classic tomy engines (Just a theory though! I may be wrong)

Yes it's really weird the wheels have not lost colour. I did look on Google of course and this plastic discolouration is a very deep subject with a number of different ways to attack the problem. Some of them involve some fairly nasty chemicals.

I think that when it comes to the stealing, the hot wheels and stuff like that is just wrong cuz (at least in america) You can get hot wheels at dollar tree. However, the bike tire and the ball pump and stuff, id likely say those are few and far between occurrences for people who are simply down on their luck and a bike tire is necessary for life. I wouldnt personally look down on anyone for that

Plastic yellowing is an interesting issue - I don't know much about it, but recent Transformers have had a real issue with it (even when they're not exposed to UV) so it's definitely not a new problem for collectors. However, this is one of the first times I've seen it on a Trackmaster item! The battery AEG engines have really dropped the ball compared to the push along ones, I think they're far superior from a detail perspective, even though they're a cheaper product. The stealing issue is truly something else - the word chronic doesn't even cover it! I've never had the issue where something hasn't scanned before (I guess I don't get in fast enough), but I have had so many issues with self service not 'weighing' MINIs correctly - that has caused a lot of bother!

Yep the plastic problem is a deep subject and I can see by looking online there seems to be many ways to resolve the problem but no way is guaranteed to fix it. Apparently denture tablets can fix the yellowing. But what I don't understand is how do toys locked away in boxes in total darkness get yellowing plastic. I always thought it was UV light that did this damage. I think I remember the KZbinr AVE do a trick that was turning very yellow plastic go back to white. He was using a hair saloon product creme and then set it in the sun to cook off. It's basically a peroxide hair product. i know that some plastics will yellow if exposed to uv light which is why old computers turn yellow if left by a window for example but your Gordon was in a dark environment so im no really sure what happened
