I've been using the smallrig AP-10. I love how you can unscrew the leg and make a monopod out of it. It's a better option compared to the ulanzi and peak design models . Overall its been a great lightweight option. I'm ready to see how this new setup compares. I'm getting the long lens version.

I have both, and they both have their pluses and minuses. Obviously use whichever you find best for you. 🙂

Thank you for the review. I have just placed orders for both and I am looking forward to a simplistic way of taking my landscape images.

Glad it was helpful! It's obvious, but make sure you have an L bracket so you can shoot verticals. So far I really enjoy the combo, and find it especially useful for my Large Format film cameras.

@@EdwardMartinsPhotography Edward. Your review was indeed helpful. So much so that I have just taken delivery of my TC7 tripod which compliments the Acratech Pano Head and Pro Media L Bracket. My only regret is that I didn't invest in this set up years ago. Thank you again for taking the time to review and share your experience. Happy Shooting.

Does look pretty good but I have found myself using strange camera angles when I do close up photography sometimes - once you don't have an obvious reference point to what is up and down you can position it any angle you want to make a composition work. What do you think of geared heads?
@EdwardMartinsPhotography
@EdwardMartinsPhotography Жыл бұрын
I've never used a geared head. They seem like a nice option, but the ones I've seen have been really heavy.

You don't need the Acratech leveling base with the TC-7 tripod correct?

Nice! I've got sort of the same set up. My legs are the Artcise AS80c Carbon Fiber heavy-duty Tripod Legs (under 200.00 bucks on Amazon) with the Sirui L-20S pan and tilt head (130.00). It's almost gimbal like with my long lenses for birding and perfect for landscapes/panos.

Do you use a nodal point rail for vertical panos? I shoot panos all the time with my 43mm F 1.9 limited, damn near perfect for that purpose. I do not have/use a nodal point rail. Do you think they are worth it?
@EdwardMartinsPhotography

I don't shoot a lot of panos. I may start now that I have the perfect tripod for it.

That's the same set up I use as well though I have the long lens head. Definitely solid gear worth the investment. Only draw back is no fluid head for video but manageable. I even added a 3rd bubble level that was in a hot shoe protector for cheap.

I'm not crazy about carrying it, but I sure like using it! But now that Fuji is at 40mp's, I needed a sturdier tripod anyway, so this one is it!

Needed a travel tripod for my vacation to alaska, this one is a little rich for me, as I'm only a hobbyist, but I got that Sarui in your links, its the right price. Don't know if there is any difference in reality between aluminum and carbon fiber, an extra pound ain't gonna kill me. But sprung for the carbon as I figure it might be less cold to touch out there. As an aside, I've tried a lot of camera bags over the years, but sorta like Tenba's line the most, thought out, not insane priced. For looks though, I'm a sucker for Billingham. I'll take the Tenba backpack up with me for that trip I think though. Have you done a camera bag video yet? I'm in a bag sorta mood cause I started rucking for the ole health.

I use that Siri a lot as my 2nd tripod for video. The iFootage is a honker, definitely not a travel tripod. Bags are a real issue. I like my F-stop, but not for casual photography. I have an old Lowepro trekker which is great but has no provisions for putting anything on the sides and I like to put my tripods on the sides. I have a few Bellingham's I never use, lol.

I am building something similar on my existing Manfrotto 055 tripod and a video head and leveler from Ullanzi, as thats what i can afford.

Although a L bracket is preferred the pano head can be loosened to allow you to pick up the bracket area and turn it in 45 deg increments. then just adjust it back down. If the adjust wheel is to tight use a allen wrench to loosen it....see the companies video on how to do this...easier to watch then for me to explain it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpfYnYODh9dmbNUsi=pKW2BKpwIxNrR_aw

So what’s the total weight? More than a peak design carbon fibre?
@EdwardMartinsPhotography
@EdwardMartinsPhotography 11 ай бұрын
I don't know what a PD Fiber weighs, I'll look it up. As for the TC-7 I'll weigh it and get back to you. I still like the TC7 a lot, but lately I've gone back to using my 20 year old Gitzo 2 series CF Mountaineer with Kirk BH1 ball head. And I use my Gitzo 1545 T head with RRS 35 ball head also a lot. If I had to choose one it would definitely be the 1545T with RRS ball head. It's just a workhorse and very nice to use. The TC7 is a bit fiddly in comparison.

@@EdwardMartinsPhotography ok nice, good insight, the peak design total weight is 1.3kgs. What do you think is the weight of the total set up you have there in the video, and the total weight of what you mentioned you’ve reverted back to?

@@AlexSocialDatingAndConfidence TC7 with Acratech head is 5 pounds 5 OZ, the Gitzo GT2541 with Kirk BH=1 is 4 pounds 5 OZ and the Gitzo 1541T with RRS Medium ball head is 3 pounds even, and that's my favorite. I wish I had 2 of those but all total it was about $950 bucks for the legs and the RRS head..
