This video delves into the primary political concepts presented by the English philosopher Thomas Hobbes in his seminal work, "Leviathan" (1651). These concepts encompass his materialistic perspective on the "state of nature," the theory of the social contract, his philosophy concerning fear, human nature, sovereignty, common power, and freedom. They all contribute to the vision of a society interconnected as one entity, striving to become a mortal god, with all citizens being integral parts of the State organism. These ideas have profoundly transformed the landscape of the Social Sciences. However, it is essential to underline that the focus here lies exclusively on the ideas themselves, rather than on the theorist or philosopher. This approach seeks to decanonize the author, separating them from their work, as part of my broader project to "ruthlessly criticize everything existing" by employing philosophical ideas, while refraining from canonizing the theorist.
