After Christmas I go to my favourite retailer to count AEG Thomas & Friends Percy stock. My pre Christmas prediction didn't work out. The good news is all the Hot Wheels stock that was missing before Christmas arrived after Christmas. I look back just two years to remember much happier times, a time just prior to Thomas All Engines Go stock arrived. At my local large shopping Mall I now only have two retailers who carry Thomas & Friends stock and in reality these two major anchor stores are actually the same. It really feels like a race to the bottom and this style of retailing has a negative effect on the whole shopping Mall. When the only choice is Percy it says much about all the things that are going wrong. Anyway I always said Bluey was going to be huge, I called that many years ago and I feel no one ever believed me.
ANKO is Kmart Australia's house brand: an evolution of the “&Co” branding it had previously used for individual departments such as “Kids&Co”, “Home&Co” and “Clothing&Co”. Introduced in 2019 to celebrate Kmart's 50th anniversary, Anko also means “A New Kind Of”, representing the company's changed philosophy since 2008. A 2024 article by The Australian reported that 85 per cent of products in Kmart stores are Anko brand. Anko has the largest market share in the home and toys, menswear, womenswear and children’s wear categories in Australia.
Target began stocking Anko products in 2024. Anko is also an international brand: Kmart has made arrangements to sell its products in other department stores in countries such as Thailand, Indonesia and Canada
