Some have said it in the comments, but all the weird decisions made regarding this engine, the coupler, the lack of buffers, the traction tyres, the wires, etc. are because they couldnt be bothered to remold all of the old American 4-4-0 model. Most probably know that this was a common practice for the Hornby Thomas range because they had most of the engines basises in their lineup already. Its new for Bachmann though since out of necessity theyve had to scratch build most of their Thomas range.

I’m kinda glad they didn’t decide to add buffers on him (at least on the front). It feels more accurate to American railroads.

Did you know that that front coupler works He is dual usage in the uk and USA The uk coupler is on the rear . For our Nem couplers and pin & loop system we have here However The front end is American knuckle . As the hand shaped curve into a opposite curve making it knuckle . So if you ever wanted . brittish railway pullmans one one end pulled by the LNER A4 mallard And the damm American rail gun . To couple up . Then use Beau as the converter 😂😂😂 Have a good day . Nice review on a decent model! However, I’m still confused why Bachmann has made Beau of all characters…

They likely decided to make Beau since it would be cheap to make him and it wouldn't be too high a loss if he didn't sell well.

I’m confused that people who find it weird that Bachmann would make Beau want them to make Lady or Hank despite both of them leaving just as much impact as him.

Probably because that mold, i.e. the american 440 tender engine, is opd and probably beyond saving and was converted into this permanently

Nice model but I don't think I'll get him due to just how expensive he is and also just because he's not really a desired character that a lot of people want and it's also not like we grew up with him because he's a CGI character so of course we didn't grow up with him. Also, I think it's strange that he has a coupling at the front of him because he has a snowplow and engines shouldn't have couplings on snowplows that just makes absolutely no sense to me and so does not having buffers because he's a steam engine they're all supposed to have buffers otherwise that's dangerous for when he stops at buffers and he doesn't even have buffers of his own. Also, yeah the wiring that they have there is dangerous because if it's meant for kids, they should've made this like Hornby made their models where they have couplings in between both the engine and the tender instead of wiring between both because yeah you're right man that's really dangerous. Lastly, they're all double HO scale silly so I really don't know exactly why he's not the exact same height as the other Thomas models but hey whatever man that's just really truly strange to me for sure man!!

@@joshuaW5621 But they can't do that! That's not fair! Plus, they're only allowing faceless rolling stock from the model series, but not engines or rolling stock with faces like Old Slow Coach. And, it's still not fair!

This was a show of laziness by Bachmann, reusing their old H0 generic American 4-4-0, but that does reflect the effort that was put into the show, so... I just wish that they were using their resources to make characters that the majority of their customer base are asking for, and to retool their 4 wheel coaches and faces, to help improve the line somewhat.

Personally, I feel like Beau doesn’t add much except only having one roll and one BWBA movie and then never seen again. As such I feel like this was kind of pointless for Bachman to do. Not to mention, but if they can only do like one character from one scene, then why not do it for like other characters such as Hiro, Luke, Stephen, or even any other CGI character that either potential or a fan favorite. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend getting Beau but what I would recommend is Stanley and Rebecca when they get released.
