Thomas MINIS Advent Calendar 2023 Review: The BEST YET? 🎄❄️🎁

I have the previous years Thomas advent calendars but this is a total rethink and looks very good. The exclusives Thomas, Percy & James are as you point out excellent. I agree overall this is the must have collection to have. Excellent points up the end about this set and the incredibly lackluster distribution that's going on with ALL Thomas related items. I have NOT seen this Thomas advent calendar in Oz shops at all as well. I've seen endless Bluey ones selling out in Kmart and just about every other franchise has an advent calendar of sorts out of Christmas. During 2023 I have picked up a few pieces of Thomas AEG merch (books) but the toy lines have been incredibly dismal. Shame on you Mattel, shame😡.

Your right this MINIS advent calendar is the best! Or at least one of the best. I was suprised to see that not all of the minis in the advent calendar were repetes because series 25 and 26 were all repetes ( except for the matalic James and Diesel). The matalic MINIS are amazing. I also really like the Toby with the dogs.I like that they included Duck and Henry. Yes Duck's wheels have always been grey. Amazing review!

I like how the flaps that hide the engines have a little hole in them so you can make Christmas decorations

This advent calendar is one of the best because of the chrome Thomas, Percy, and James 😄 By the way, Christmas Emily isn’t new, she was released in the 2019 advent calendar, it’s Christmas Stephen that is new

Just bought it less than an hour ago. This will be my first experience getting these. I’m so excited. There’s one specific one that I particularly wanted, and that’s why I decided to spring for this, but I’m really excited about the exclusive ones too. They make it worth it. Along with that one returner that I absolutely love.

You really goofed up on 7:12 That Advent Emily was from 2019, Stephen with the festive lights and garden gnomes was the recent 2023 Advent exclusive of the range. Plus, the Two Slimes were from a 2017 40 pack, and Steelworks Thomas was from a rehashed playset. Besides that, this an amazing assortment for 2023, and i'm so glad you didn't reveal who were in from each door. Happy Christmas Eve :)

I've sorta been put off on most Minis since 2017ish or so, but the ones in this advent calendar are quite good (both the exclusive and the returning ones.) Actuallly wouldn't mind picking this up.

I’m glad to know what exactly is in here because I can’t see well, so I might accidentally miss a character-defining detail that might cause me to confuse characters.

I just wished that the minis range had more individuality with different characters. Every engine has the same blob-like shape, with the characters losing their iconic profiles and blending together. In this respect, Bluebird and miniature Ertl were excellent (I would say that bluebird’s Bertie and Bulstrode looked perfectly accurate). They could have also released the variations of each characters in a smarter way… they could have had versions based off of the different illustrators renditions of each character, which would have been excellent. Unfortunately though, what matters to Mattel is to make everything as cheaply as possible and have a high mark-up. That strategy has really killed the appeal of the various merchandising, and even become the aesthetic of the show. At least the fandom and Bachmann still make excellent renditions.

At least Minis are consistent with being normal Thomas. I only wish we got more surprise bags of them... I haven't had any luck finding wave 2 2021.... :( The candy cane James and the Rosie with Christmas cookies is from 2018's calander which you haven't reviewed and the slime Victor and Stanley is from a 20 or 30 pack from 2017 I think along with a troublesome truck. The steel James is from 2017 and the steel Thomas came in a playset recolor that I forgot the name of it.

Same with last year's. 2018: Christmas Sweater Thomas Percy with a Christmas tree Charlie as a Christmas present Emily with toys I think 2019: Thomas with eggnog Percy as an elf with envelopes and mail James with wrapping paper I think... Rebecca covered in toys Nia with Christmas lights and snow Emily covered in mistletoes 2020: Toby as a shed for reindeer Bill or Ben as a reindeer Samson as an elf making toys Porter as Santa's sleigh Yong Bao as a nutcracker Nia as a penguin 2022: Snowman Percy Dog Salty from 2021 but with snow clothes Thomas with skiing gear and animals Skarloey with a polar bear and yarn balls Duck as fruitcake Harold with Santa and his reindeer flying

I had the same thing happen to me. I couldn’t find any at Walmart, I knew going in that minis is probably not going to be around for much longer with all engines go is still being a thing The only way I can see them still going is a complete rebrand to be AEG themed but that’s it
