I was in high school when this movie was out. I raced to the record store to buy it only to find out that none of the cpm[posed music by this guy Newman was on it. Since I always followed his work. But this is the #1 favorite ever of his collection. And yet it was early in his career...

The Roland D-50 is all over this score. Makes sense because it was released in 1987, the same year this movie came out. The Fantasia patch is used extensively, and tastefully. This is one of my favourite scores of all time.

The later soundtracks Dead Man by Neil Young and Crash by Howard Shore share some reminiscences. Yet somehow when something is perfect from previous decades like here Less Than Zero by Thomas Newman of the magical 80s it is just the most real thing.
