By design, the Canvas Conference stands at the intersection of theology and creativity. Our hope and heart in this venture is gospel-oriented and gospel-driven. We want to help build strong theological foundations for the artist and, likewise, to push Christians to pursue creative orthodoxy in their theological craft. We have found that without theology, creativity wanders from its original significance and purpose; while without creativity, theology often becomes cold, distant, and futile.

You know Thomas I just started listening... about 3 minutes in... and I identify so much with this. I was probably opposite you in the outward expression of my creative dilemma, I withdrew inwardly which produced a war in my soul from an early age... a rage of fear that took over my young life... until the dawn of God's love. However, I think our worlds, the communities we are part of collided in much the same way when God rescued me. Being a creative and yet a Christian in places like CA and being also theologically or doctrinally sound wasn't just something you looked into it was a means of survival for your faith. I fought for my faith among people you come across in such a "liberal" setting to be cast into by God... family, friends, teachers, Christians, enemies and surroundings. As a creative follower of Christ in CA and now much of America, you either tend toward ignoring the logical aspect of and very creatively engineered precepts of the Gospel or you delve into it. You realize it is like a seemingly simple masterful song... that is so creative... when you dive in you realize it took so much more creative insight it is in many ways beyond our logical minds. Anyway, thank you for sharing your story... it helped me. amen

As a person wanting to be an Aerospace engineer but also wants to be a musician. This makes soo much sense to me. As an engineer, decisions are made off what I know. With music, decision are made off how I feel. Two separate worlds. One person.
