I go to model shows quite often. Wooden Railway is what I look for, but after two years, I've only ever found Wooden Railway at two shows. I've managed to find Ertl Thomas, Edward, Gordon, Toby and Bertie with sticker faces, and in near perfect condition, as well as a big Ertl Thomas with quite a bit of wear and tear. All of these for £1 each. It's amazing what you can find if you know where to look.

I learnt a cruel lesson about swapping a train with so called youtube friends, it's just too risky to take someones word that they will re-pay a favour. I sent away a very difficult to find Take N Play mint in box to a youtuber who said he needed one very urgently, in the end I found out he's a blasted e-bay trader. And that sort of sums up the whole e-bay experience for me. Sadly it's the few people like that who ruin it for all others. I do my best to keep online traders from spamming their stuff on my videos, i'm not a free posting link area for desperate people trying to make a quick buck ripping people off on e-bay

leokimvideo Wow, that's a real stab in the back. The things people will do to make a little bit of money on the side. It's a real shame these kinds of people are out there, ruining it to others. I can see why on your Contest videos and such you clearly say "I want to make sure this is going to a loving home" as you don't want to give away a prize for someone to sell it on, you're giving it to them for the value of the item - it wants to be cherished. You're kind enough to do these things with people yet some still react in horrendous ways

TheTrainModeller I think sadly a few people see youtube as a bill board for their e-bay sales activities, and sure landing on popular youtubers would look like a clever way to promote your e-bay business. But cloaking yourself as a fan to grab a train to flog on e-bay is a really low act. The safest thing for me to do is close the door to everyone wanting something from me. I have lots count of the people who send through a PM wanting something for themselves. So often I have never heard or seen these people active on my channel which straight away rings alarm bells. I also do not take on anything which is offered to me for my collection, that way I keep total separation from the horrors of online trading.

I saw a little boy today carrying around a couple of ERTLs, a Thomas and a Gordon. What surprised me the most is that they were in pristine condition and the Thomas was the even rarer paper face version, also in pristine condition. The boy seemed to be taking care of them at least, either they're from an Anniversary reissue I don't know about or they're from a relative's private collection, but either way it was nice to see them being enjoyed by the younger generations as they were meant to be.

Oliver is a great western engine who was saved from scrap by Donald. He came to work on sir topham hatts railway, working on a branch line with duck the other western engine The other engines now call,"the little western." He recently made a comeback in season 17 (or 18) of Thomas in an episode called toads adventure. :-)

Leo Looking at all that Thomas ERTL stuff brought back so many memories of me playing with my ERTL Thomas toys, which i still have in a box in my room. After looking at all the green Thomas characters there, i noticed that one green character you probably don't have in ERTL form that got the chop is George the Steam Roller. This was an excellent video of the ERTL Thomas toys that you have in you collection, especially the ERTL trains you used for Mad Bomber. I'm just so sad that ERTL hasn't been around for so many years, but every toy company has its special story of the good old days.

Great video (I watched all the way to the end :)). Strangely, I didn't like the ERTLs as a kid-I always wanted more Tomy and Wooden stuff. That train show looks very exciting-I haven't been to one for years-they never are near me :( Can't wait for the Hornby video (being a HO fan). The metallic engines are very nice, but it seems like something for collectors rather than children. Before I started collecting, I actually didn't like the idea of exclusive printed locos, because my thought was always "If this was someone's first set, how annoying would it be to only have a surprised/paint covered etc Thomas?" Nowadays I realise that that's what the individual locos or "Starter Sets" are for-beyond that, customized trains are awesome (and making story making much easier!!) Is there something about happy faces that means we can 'see' a happy face sad, but we can't see a 'sad' face happy?

The Rev W. Awdry collected model trains. He got a pannier tank engine (Ducks model) and it sort of waddled back and forth like your BR class 08 Diesel Shunter did. When his saw this the called it duck, giving Monique the name 'Duck'. Instead of painting that diesel black you could just keep it and put Paxton's face on it and possibly add details like his yellow stripe and his black top vents.

Great video. They didn't give engines like Percy, Henry and Emily the boot because the main engines ( Thomas, Gordon, James, Percy, Henry, Toby, Emily and Edward) are like in a group called the Stream Team. Duck was meant to be apart of this, but the last spot was taking by Emily. You're lucky to be able to collect all those trains. I only have one thing in my way. My dad. My dad was never a fan of Thomas so I don't really collect trains anymore.

Silver Thomas seems to be going for around 24.99 And The metallic Percy toy seems to be all over the place. I've seen them go for 60 to 80 brand new. And the lady toy seems to be going for around 7$ in worse condition then the one you got. Great find Leo. (Non eBay prices) Keep up the great videos :)

I use to have the ERTL models when I was a kid and I loved them. Unfortunately I gave them all away. However I still have George the Steam Roller and I keep him on the layout, so he is the sole survivor of my ERTL collection. I do a fire engine that's also on the layout, but it doesn't count as a character and it feels more like a prop. I do have two of the faceless engines, City of Truro and Bluebell.

Kind of an add-on here to my other comment, but I think it's kind of a shame that the ERTL engines have to just sit around in those boxes all the time. I know you probably don't have a lot of room to keep them out, but what if you were to build a small display, like with the Mad Bomber sets, and position some of the engines and rolling stock on there? A few buildings here and there, but the whole point of it would be to showcase some of the collection.. Just an idea. Again, I am very happy you shared your finds with us. You're amassing quite an ERTL collection!

I used to have 3 ertl trains when I was little till one day I brought them to show and tell at my pre school and a kid was picking on me and threw my tanker and rare culdee and ran over them with a tricycle I had my dad try to fix them but only could fix the tanker so now I have thomas and the tanker. That old Hornby diesel is indeed a very old diesel. It's funny that you say you might turn him into Devious Diesel because the Hornby Diesel model (Now discontinued) uses the exact same body-shell as that old model.
