If you were to put this into perspective, would you think of this canon? You could actually think that one of Thomas' drivers slipped and made Thomas start to move while the Fat Controller was trying to fix Thomas' breaks. I think of it an idea for Thomas to crash into Phillip, though instead of him completely demolished and broken, he could've just been rapidly bumped and crashed into something (maybe a building). Topham Hatt would instead actually get help from a trained signalbox worker, Thomas WOULDN'T have a nuclear bomb with him, Harold wouldn't be shooting at Thomas but instead trying to help as well, and I definitely don't think he would crash into the town of Strawberry Shortcake. All of these are my opinion and in my head-canon, but you don't have to have the same opinion.
