Holy shit, a lot of people knew eachother from way back then and work at different channels of lets play.. Pretty amazing. And I learned all the old news / machinima stuff I watched when I was little was by people I watch now, like Adam Kovic.
@thomas769437 жыл бұрын
It goes deeper than you might think: Greg Miller, Kovic, iJustine and FreddieW were a team on RT's "The Gauntlet" Season 2, half of The Creatures have been on the old iteration Inside Gaming daily, there were lots of appearances in The Creatures' convention videos from IG/ETC and even AH. Also, ScrewAttack used to own GameTrailers where Elyse Willems worked before its back catalogue handed over to IGN, where Kinda Funny worked. Steven Suptic was partnered with Machinima for many years and had Minecraft collabs with everyone under the sun, Creatures included. Literally everything stems from RT, ScrewAttack, Machinima and IGN.

Absolutely, IG were so sick of Machinima's restrictions near the end (they're partnership focused rather than production focused) and Greg+co desperately wanted to leave IGN to have complete control over their content too. Similar reason why all The Creatures eventually ended their partnerships with Machinima over the years too.

I'm sitting here at what, 1AM in the morning on a school night going down memory lane. As Im watching, all I can think of is "Who's next to leave or go? What is in store for the Let's Play community? How long will they prosper?". Its a bit emotional if Im being entirely genuine. These people had no idea the type of life's they were buulding together until so many years later, and that's amazing. Its a bit sad to watch some of these people leave, but its all well and that's alright. Im happy with the community, and while I recognize that not every body may feel the same way, it holds a very dear spot in my heart. Im glad that for a little under half of my life I have gotten to know these people. Its a great feeling. Im probably ranting, but I figured I might as well get my mind out. I love this community and want it to last forever.
@thomas769437 жыл бұрын
You and me both. Feels like there's more hostility from OG RT fans than anything else but that's likely a vocal minority, all the groups have awesome histories and random collabs like Inside Gaming on AHWU or The Creatures on Inside Gaming Daily were awesome. Now that they're all officially under one umbrella it's a great time to be a fan of any of these channels.

You did an amazing job on this! I had no idea how much ScrewAttack had done by the time AH had formed. It was really cool to see some of the major turning points too, like I never realize Kinda Funny and Funhaus both departed from their respective old channels around the same time, because I didn't follow Kinda Funny then. This was also a great way to explain to my dad how RT works, because he's suddenly shown a bunch of interest in all the channels I watch, so this was much easier to show him then explain to him all these turning points. I hope you make a part two eventually one day!

It's become abundantly clear that "let's play family" was just an excuse for rooster teeth to acquire a bunch of great gaming channels to profit off their merch while only supporting funhaus and achievement hunter. There were barely any crossovers, and most of the channels were just left to fall apart or struggle while everyone in Austin texas got richer... But now rooster teeth are dead because warner bros did the exact same thing to them. Poetic really!

So....I appreciate this because in the past two or three years alone Let’s play went from being a sub-whatever of Achievement hunter to a conglomerate consisting of something like 8 different channels and I had no idea who the hell anyone else was. I mean I NOW love funhaus and kinda funny and cowchop, (still have no idea who the seven channel is) but it almost seemed like they were just given what rt and ah had created for them and now that I have perspective on jut how important they not only are but always have been to the community, it’s kind of cool

Gosh dang good work bro. There are some videos I remeber watching that I didn’t even know had specific people in it. Example: when Brett hosted the build off between aleks and Steven suptic. I had only watched it at that time because sly (my fav creature at the time) made videos with aleks. Looking back on the was s crazy experience to see how far back of a “true fan” of the rooster teeth family I really was. Nothing can beat those all rvb shorts. Again thanks for the montage.

Wouldn’t the earliest stuff technically be Red vs Blue? After all Rooster Teeth is kinda the owner of it and the owner of Achievement Hunter Funhaus and Screw Attack.
@thomas769437 жыл бұрын
Technically yeah. An earlier version of my video started in 2003 but it felt disconnected compared to this final version. Referring to Rooster Teeth overall at the start and then never again felt really weird and the context wasn't really necessary. If this were some sort of written paper or actual documentary, of course it'd be required but this is just how it turned out I guess.

The only person that played a bigger role in my childhood than, SSOHPKC, Nova, Kootra and Sp00nerism was my mother. Every day after school or during the weekends I would binge their videos. From Minecraft to Just Cause 2 they always brought me laughs. It was sad to see them drop off one by one. From when Seamus appearances became horribly rare to when Sp00n seemed to fall off the face of the Earth. Although it may seem “Sad” or “Pathetic” to you, these people and channels played a role in my childhood like a favourite childhood tv show did, something no matter the situation, can be looked back on and remembered fondly of a simpler time. Man, I would love seeing the whole gang just having fun together, Nova, SSOHPKC, Gassy, Sly, Immortal, Kootra and even Dan, it truly was a sad day they disbanded.
