Hinge plywood to the wall studs and use two cheap, plastic, lightweight saw horses. Remove saw horses and plywood lays down tight to the studs.

You know..... This really caught my eye. In my "new" home, there's a serious DEAD space wall that's really odd sized, and I was resigned to custom fabbing a cabinet/side board, but.... It's an old custom built MCM home from '61. This "piece of a wall" is in the dining room and Just outside the kitchen..... Watching this has shifted my focus... I'm going to steal your idea-😆! to make a custom folder wall table/counter in walnut (matching) as a serving sideboard, attached to the wall and that folds out of the way.... Kudos to you! 👍😊. I'm glad followed over!

That was my immediate thought but more for a combined living/dining room that's rarely used as an actual dining area. Have something like this up against a wall with some folding dining chairs (there are some nice ones) for the rare occasions that a table is actually needed. (Because honestly, who doesn't usually eat on the couch in front of the tv these days?) 😅👍

I like it. It looks sturdy and has all of the features you stated. Being lightweight, it looks like it would also work to carry out of a condo to the back patio or even store on the patio (with a cover) , since I don't have a garage to work out of.
