Don't quite understand your logic. Since both were eliminated by Italy, what difference would it have made? (Besides: yes, Brazil was brilliant in 1982. Argentina, though, wasn't that exceptional, despite Maradona. They lost to Belgium, to Italy, and to Brazil... enough said.)

@@stxa2594 I was very young to remember 1982 matches in details but i remember my father who was one of Maradona's hard core fans , he kept on saying that his favorite player was brutally fouled by the Brazilians and the Italians , later i watched the full matches , and he was right because in today's football rules Italy may had played with 9 players , football back then was very different and some players used dirty tricks to stop skillful players to win the matches , Maradona himself took the lesson and later he used a trick against England to secure the win in 1986 , but either way that doesn't mean Argentina was less exceptional in 1982 they played very good and they had some high quality players in the squad , but they lacked experience and maybe some balance between defense and offense .

Argentina tenia quizas uno de los mejores equipos de su historia La.base del 78 y la.incotporacion del mejor jugador de todos.los tiempos pero se encontro con una formidable Italia que pudo ser perfectamente campeona en el 78 y el mejor Brasil de todos los.tiempos Creo q si Argentina no se hubiera encontrado con esos mounstrous hubiera podido encontarlos en la final y quien sabe?

No fueron campeones el 82 porque Menotti se relajo (nunca mas gano nada), la misma defensa de 1978 no tuvo un salto de calidad, y encima eran bajitos, y lo mas importante: Con la entrada de Maradona y Ramón Díaz, Kempes ya no tenia lugar en el equipo. Pero como sacabas al goleador del equipo campeón... lo mismo para ardiles y Bertoni, cuyos puestos disputaban Barbas y Calderón respectivamente.

Deutschland hatte zu der Zeit viele Kämpfer in der Mannschaft ganz wenige Techniker. Deswegen war das deutsche Spiel nicht schön anzusehen aber gekämpft haben sie und das hat meistens immer bis ins Finale gereicht WM 82s WM 86s beide male nur Vizeweltmeister aber dann WM 90s hatte Deutschland einen guten Mix an Spieler und gewann die WM 90s
