The cable reel that supplies AC power to the crane is a flexible high voltage cable. The one at our mill is 2400V, some are 4160 V. There are brushes and slip rings in the reel to pass power and it goes up the leg to the gantry MCC to a transformer to get it to 480 for the variable frequency drives. These cranes are one of the fastest ways to unload and maximize wood storage but are a real pain to maintain! It’s 140 steps to the top so you better bring the parts and tools you need! The Mack grapple has the hydraulic pump and controls built into it. I think it was a 50 hp motor. Cool video and it’s always good to hear a Cat truck engine working!

Awesome video!!!! Enjoyed the ride along to the mill. Car at the end almost got squished, pulled out in front of A loaded logger. Looks like he had to get on the binders pretty good...:)

At pixelle instead of pulling under a crane there are loaders for softwood and hard wood most can unload 1 bunk at once and 1 can unload 1/2 of a bunk at once

What is the Unbinding Rack all about? We don't have anything like that at Mn. Mills. The blower is nice have to sweep it off here. Good Vidya.
@251boys3 жыл бұрын
It's where u pull into there to unbind the the load and if any wood falls off it will catch it but the ones at our mills beat the crap out of our trucks they break antennas hit the mirrors scratch the paint on the trucks
@williamtorkelson30723 жыл бұрын
@@251boys thanks, I thought it was something like that. And I figured they look like they would beat on trucks.
