Just to be clear, we are not farmers. We just wanted to visit Nampo, the largest farm/agricultural show in the southern hemisphere.
Nampo is also an extremely large fly in destination for all the farmers that utilise their aircraft for normal travel due to the huge distances between towns in this area. We saw everything from miniature horses to enormous combine harvesters. Travis was like a kid in a candy store.
Any aviator is highly recommended to visit Nampo. You will be treated by a spectacle of airplanes and some very interesting air traffic control. They also do a very good burger inside the show, it just feels awkward to eat it there in front of the other cows.

For logging, generally it is block time meaning the time from when the plane starts moving under its own power until when it stop. This being flying it gets a whole lot more complex when you think of scenarios like taxing and not taking off. Generally I've seen if you a taxiing to move a plane that doesn't count, but if you are taxing and then reject the taxi off for some reason, that would count. The engine warm up/warm down periods get even stranger. Technically you aren't meant to count the warm up if you haven't moved however if you live somewhere cold and the plane is being de-iced and the engine is stopped, you CAN count that so yeh, consistency.

Thank god you mentioned the date and time… I would have been lost without such a contextualization. Floating In the corner-less vacuum of time without the date 😂

Hello Thomas. You are mentioning that the amount of airplanes at Nampo are much less. Well, I will be interested to know how many of people will still be able to fly in 6 month time with the crazy fuel price increase. Even for Rotax flying planes. I think it’s the end of the runway for AVGAS flying airplanes. That’s for sure. Will be interesting for you to start a big survey …

Hi Thomas . I enjoy your show. With the benefit of ownership and experience what would now be your top 3 (non tandem) ultralight choices now and which engine would you go for. Thanks

Thank you! I have more experience in the VLA type arena (700-750kg). Ideal airplanes in my mind as two seaters are the KFA Safari, Vans RV-7 & Sling

Hey Thomas. Hoe lank is die conversion op die sling 2? Is dit beter om dit by die sling ouens self te doen?
@ThomasMarrow
@ThomasMarrow 2 жыл бұрын
Hi JJ, it's not a long conversion if you already have your PPL. Easiest place to do a conversion in Johannesburg is Johannesburg Flying Academy at Panorama airfield. There are however schools all over the country that offer the Sling 2.
