@@مريَم-ط5م7غ Are you in school for architecture? I'm in school for architecture now, I started a few days ago. So far I can't comment too much on work, we haven't done anything meaningful to warrant a strong judgement. If I could say something, however, I would make a remark on the apparent weakness in my sketching, so that's something that I'll be working on in my free time. The only new challenge thus far is going to be communicating messages via the illustrations that you do for sites; to be specific, communicate about things like shape/form, light/shadows, perspective, texture/patterns, materials and composition etc. In terms of socialising ... Well, that's going horribly for me. I'm just looking forward into the future insofar as achieving a bachelors goes. You can decide to pursue architecture professionally, or strive for a new career path with your bachelors and see what else you can do (possibly continue working as an architect, but in a firm and build up experience).

Hi, I would check these out before making a decision. Drew Paul Bell: Do you have to be good at drawing before going to architecture school and his other videos. Arbuckle Industries, Archiculture: a documentary film (25min) and KhanAcademy Careers and Personal Finance videos. 3 videos on Architectural Design. I would also highly recommend taking CareerFitter.com test for the best Career/Field to help look past the job. If you are currently in an architectural class or even the Industrial Arts you will gauge whether you have a knack for this kind of work. Its more than just art and working at a desk.

I've been thinking about going into architecture. I gotta few questions tho Do you have to be an artsy person to do architecture? I'm creative but definitely not artsy What would you say your hardest class has been so far? On an average day, how long do you spend in school? I've heard rumors that you guys spend a lot of time in studio! What's the school/life balance like? What made you go into architecture? What's your favorite part about architecture? What kind of person would you say makes a great fit for the architecture major?
@lethaboramphenyane4 жыл бұрын
So I'm an architecture student in South Africa. This is my first year of study so take everything with a pinch of salt. I'll try to answer what I can. I'll begin with stating that my modules are similar to Thomas but have different names. I just have three more modules. Two of which are computer modules and the other a construction module . So, 1. No you don't necessarily have to be 'artsy' but you are going to have to develop the skill. I suggest you draw as much as you can (it will help you in the long run and you'll be drawing throughout the course). I'm currently on my fifth journal for the year and I have to complete 11 by the end of the year for my final crit. 2. It's relative to each person but in my experience the Environmental theory module isn't the easiest. 3. I'm on campus from 8:30 to 16:20 from Tuesday to Friday. Monday I have an 3 hour construction lecture and 2 hour lecture (on of the computer modules ) that follows immediately afterwards (10 min break between each hour). On Wednesdays I have a 2 hour Environmental studies lecture. Fridays I have a 2 hour Environmental theory (sounds similar to the previous module but they are different) and the remaining computer module for 2 hours Tuesdays and Thursdays I have full day studio and Wednesdays and Fridays I have 2 hours of studio. There's an hour break on each day and a seminar-ish period on Wednesday. You will find yourself spending overtime in studio so you can finish projects. 4. School life balance is possible. You'll find it difficult to find it because your schedule differs from that of your friends studying a different degree. 5. That's a long story but I just have an admiration for it and I would like to see how I can impact my environment and community, maybe even the world🤷♀️ in the same or different way many other great architects have. 6. The challenge, the relationships you forge, the satisfaction of seeing your growth as a designer, being immersed in the world of design and the knowing your not the only one working in the am's trying to finish an assignment. That's a difficult question to answer. The people inthe architecture department at my university are all different and if iweere to ask my le gures they'd give me a vague non-straight forward answer. To be honest I wonder why they chose me after a long and rigorous selection process I came out in the top 100 but there's 93 students currently in the first year group. I hope this answers some of your concerns/questions Due to covid-19 were learning online, but the schedule remains the same but it will change for the second semester.

But use one designed by architects for architects such as Vectorworks or ArchiCad rather than software hyped as being the best, when it is merely popular. ‘Best’ and ‘popular’ are two terms known not to be interchangeable :-)

Ivan Dujić , just because AutoCAD is popular does not mean it is very good nor suited to the way you work. As a real architect (not ‘architectural’ designer / technician / technologist I think and design in 3D using sketching and BIM. 2D software only replicated drawing board techniques which have both been surpassed by better tools that provide the client and contractor better information.

@@ThomasRowntree dude I've been so stressed lately I have one more question. The MAIN thing I'm scare about when majoring architecture is if architecture I'd a stable job. I'm meaning like do architects get decent full time jobs with decent hours and not just free lance work
@kohterg37135 жыл бұрын
@@redapples4422 that depends a lot from country to country. You could freelance or start working with some small architectural company or big one... and get stuck there for forever doing only minor tasks or maybe shine who knows, but the age of star architects is over just so you know. Personally i would prefer freelancing since is up to you to organize your time and depending on country it could give you a very pleasing income. You just gotta be diligent and very patient with the clients. Once my professor said that getting the degree is the easiest part, dealing with the clients is the real challenge.

That's a plus. Architecture mainly deals with 3 principles "form, function and aesthetics. Modern standards.

Fantastic😍I want to ask you if is it hard to study architecture and how much time do you study per day?
@ThomasRowntree5 жыл бұрын
it’s not hard if you put your mind to it and i’d probably say about 4 hours a day normally and then more when it comes to deadlines, it can go up to like 8+ hours a day

I would love to do this, but I have to be real with myself sometimes. Like I feel I suck at math and physics, and my hope of doing this would be at a loss. All this hard work, and then the idea of failing is scary to me. I just wish I was smarter. And even if I did do this, and passed everything. Like what are my odds of getting a job. Like I look around at so many architect jobs, and they not only require college, but so much experience. The risk feels huge and I don’t like it
