Thomas Aquinas was writing this based on beliefs of his day. He also believed that the human embryo does not receive a soul until 40 days for a male and 80 for female. Since women were not allowed to be educated beyond embroidery, housekeeping, etc, it would have seemed a reasonable assumption that they were not mentally fit for higher studies....just as whites used to think the same about their black slaves. Turns out that not educating certain people affects their outcome....who woulda thunk...

My theory is that in the beginning man & woman (Adam & Eve) "Genesis" were created by GOD, the Father Almighty, creater of heaven and "earth" (clay), we are the clay & You are the Potter: we are all the work of your hand. "Isaiah 64:7" (The OLD Testament) but NOT"children of GOD. "And in "JESUS CHRIST", HIS "ONLY" SON, our LORD, who was conceived by the HOLY SPIRIT, who was born of the "Virgin Mary" Jesus Christ is true God & true man .... (New Testament- Catechism of the Catholic Church # 480.) We become children of God when we are Baptized in the ONE HOLY CATHOLIC APOSTOLIC CHURCH etc......(Apostles' Creed) When we are baptized according to the One HCAC. May the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with us all. Amen
