I want Quentin Tarantino to do a 1930s gangster flick like this with Tommy gun shootouts and everything. It would be awesome.
@gunnarthefeisty2 жыл бұрын
I think that would be a marvelous final film for him!

I'm surprised he hasn't done one at this point

he'll just make it unwatchable with a bunch of hipster cant. best to get a real tribute who understand how to do it right, and tarantino is too busy making historical revisionist 70s exploitation style movies

Fun fact, hollywood hired marksmen to shoot real ammo at the actors cause most directors and shit hated the way blanks looked. james cagey was almost cut down by a thompson and was like yup bulshit no more and helped found the SAG

This clip is from "The Picture Snatcher" (1933). Cagney plays a former gangster who becomes a newspaper photographer. The bad guy is played by character actor Ralf Haralde from Pittsburgh.

A looooong time Cagney fan, yet couldn’t quite pinpoint what film this clip was from until he took out the camera-then I knew it was ‘Picture Snatcher’📸

It must've been terrifying to shoot scenes like this, quite literally.

Can anybody tell what that large light machine gun with the protective shield mounted on it is? I think the best view of it is at 1:35
@MrRolyat988 жыл бұрын
I think it's s BAR with a defensive shield added. Probably just got the movie.

This reply is three years too late, but it's the aircraft version of a Lewis light machine-gun.

It’s a Vickers Machine gun, BAR’s have a 20rd magazine loaded from the bottom and Lewis’s had drum magazines loaded from the top

The big cop is Robert Emmett O'Connor. A great character actor. The Public Enemy, A Night At The Opera and many other films.

If you are wondering how the bullet hits look so real...... they are! That's why these movies rock. Real Machinegunners off camera shooting holes in things.😀

a lot of trust right there, one moment you accuse cagney of being a stool pigeon the next youre letting him hold a rod. you could have easily smoked you

What's really terrifying is they used REAL BULLETS in those scenes as they didn't have squibs back in the 30's!
